Travelling by public bus in Cyprus can admittedly be challenging. But if you speak English, most bus drivers get on. In addition, if you want to drive to the final stop, this also simplifies a lot. It can get more complicated if you want to get off in between - then it can also be that the bus driver does not stop despite the stop button being pressed. Then only courageous getting up and telling the bus driver that you want to get off now helps.
I oriented myself on the journey times with the company's app, which is not always self-explanatory immediately, but works surprisingly well after a moment of settling in. In my day, the journey times were always only displayed for the current day, which made it difficult to plan the next few days. The prices are very moderate and as long as you know that you have to pay with cash at the driver, that is also not an issue.
So you feel encouraged to use the local buses - they are reasonably priced and you can get almost anywhere with them!

Drivers are generally very disrespectful and rude. They should not be asked for information at the risk of being ignored or shouted at.

Used Inter City from Paphos to Nicosia , which was fine , full bus , arrived on time , only problem was the girl in office at Karavella station , she was absolutely terrible and so not interested .
Coming back bus was a different story , for us fine and on time but driver was by far the worst I have encountered , ever . He gave a young black girl with a baby such a hard time and spoke down to her even before getting on the bus . All about not eating in bus , it was a baby for gods sake .
On route he also shouted out to a black guy this time for taking his shoes off .
I was sick to the stomach with this guy , we knew exactly what he was .
Dreadful , dreadful people work for this lot .

Terrible. Bus goes to the airport once per hour. What kind of country is that? Africa?! Bus driver said that the bus is full and we can't go. Next one is one hour. Took a taxi paid 35e. Never again

Excellent condition of the buses. At their time as defined in the schedule., without delay. But I find the ticket expensive. Limassol Nicosia 5€ and does not pass the University of Cyprus. From General to the university another bus another 2€. Where to stand a student when daily needs 14€ just for moving?? 80 miles distance. Athens - Thessaloniki 700 km. how much was the ticket??? 50€??? Mercy. There's no competition, so everyone asks for what they want.

If you want to get an experience of what it would be like to travel by bus in a third world country, you should definitely not miss using public transport in Cyprus. Especially the intercity buses will be unforgettable! Rude drivers who don't stop at all stops and speak harshly and badly to passengers thinking they are transporting pigs. In addition to the most frequent routes that are unacceptable not to exist in an EU country, all the old buses that need to be replaced, many of the drivers should be replaced or trained to learn basic rules of human behavior that were obviously never taught. in the homes where they grew up.

Unacceptable behavior! I went up from Livadia to the center of Larnaca. The driver refused to spoil my 20 because I would take all his change. He shouted furiously that no one has exactly the right price and everyone is asking for change!!! He insisted I get off the bus, go do some errands and wait for the next bus which was coming in an hour or so!!! He was complaining that the company doesn't give them tips!!! Why should any passenger - customer care about the situation prevailing in the company? When I offered to pay by card I was informed that there was no pos! An automatic machine for issuing tickets obviously does not exist on any bus!

Drivers have a penchant for skipping bus stops, even though there are seats to spare and in many cases there is nothing displayed to warn of a full bus, it is inconsequential to them but we have to wait out in the cold and be kept away from home and family. Had incidents where the driver passed my stop, even though I had pressed the stop button, apparently these drivers require a personal invitation to stop, you having to get up and tell them "I want to stop here", the buttons are simply decorative. Had a driver claiming that my 70 euro card does not cover a trip to Limassol from Larnaca ( my card says Limassol -Larnaca-Limassol) it was claimed that this bus was a connection between Nicosia and Limassol, well if that were the case you were at the wrong bus stop, a phone call resolved that situation though there was no admission of a mistake. Don't get me started on the people employing the services of these outdated automated wagons! I mean how poorly do you have to have been raised to disregard the fact that you are within a public transportation medium? To deny making the concessions that are expected of you? I board the bus to see people splayed all over seats by themselves that would be suitable to seat 3 people. I behold people pretending to be asleep in order to not have to move over and clear the seat next to them, people who sit on the exterior seat, barring the way to the window seat just blankly staring at me when I am standing on a moving bus, unable to find a seat. There are imbeciles who proudly have their belongings lay on the seat next to them and when you look at them hoping against hope that their thick skull will get the hint to vacate the seat, to which they are in no shape or form entitled to to begin with, they stare at you with a bovine look, white blank eyes, slightly opened mouths, smooth uncreased foreheads giving credence to the suggestion that "there is noone home". Where did you get the notion that an intercity bus is your family van? If this is how you behave in a shared space out in public, I dread to imagine how you treat your guests at home, or how you treat people that you are not afraid of in general.

The bus nr. 30, which goes along Tourist area (along the cost/beach of Limassol) and used by so many tourists, is simply not stopping at all the bus stations, as if the people are invisible. Some bus drivers are rude, and many do not know English: shame on the system of a country who claims to be welcoming tourists.... I guess nobody takes into considerations the tourists who travel on budget, so dissapointing!!!

I don’t usually write reviews but this time I said il write an honest review I had 50euro I was last passenger last route from Limassol to Pafos nothing more nothing less rushing to go to the airport my man was so pissed and angry with me saying that he can kick me out and that his not a bank 😂 laughed it off played it cool kept saying that if he wants he can throw me out until I flipped and asked him where does it say I’m not allowed to pay 50 euro when u clearly have 200euro in 20s 150 in 10s 50 in 5s and another 150 in 50s their kept saying I’m allowed to not take u on board had no issue at all with my man I told him so what’s next now u gonna call the cops or are u gonna let me take the LAST BUSS so we can both go on with our days at the end he left me get in looking at me with the strangest look I’ve ever seen btw not exaggerating vut to be fair it was a safe and good trip 2/5 amen 🙏
