When you are in Salzburg on a Sunday I recommend to attend a musical Holy Mass in the Franziskanerkirche or the Cathedral. They have almost every Sunday a Mass by Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven etc. Please check their website. A Holy Mass will take about an hour. Mozart write long and shorter Masses. The dinner concert at the Hohensalzburg Fortress definitely is a tourist event. I presume they play music-for-the-millions dressed in costumes. For coffee I recommend Tomasselli and for dinner Gasthof Elefant or Gasthof Goldgasse.

Hi. I'm not sure. But there were regular public masses posted. And a lot of the churches also have confessions on a regular basis. They usually post a sign with the language the priest speaks too. We saw this in Vienna at St. Stephens and a few in Salzburg as well.

Please double check, but when I went it was first come first serve. I doubt there are reservations. It was worth going early!

The Cathedral is located in the Kaepitalplatz , near St Peters church, off Kaigasse street in Old Town. The very narrow street is shared by the Fiakerunternehmen, taxis, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Depending on where you are staying, it is so much easier to walk to the Cathedral. I had a terrific hotel, the Alstadthotel Kasererbrau, which is located a block from the Dom. The street to the Kaepitalplatz is a another very narrow alley way. A Vietnam restaurant s on the right. Remember to be quiet and respectful of those who are in prayer.

Hi. There seems to be no restrictions on dress for high mass so common sense will serve you well. perhaps no trainers, shorts, tee shirts, short dresses...or too much bare bits. It would appear wearing dark clothing, especially black, will always be acceptable. Its not always convenient of course to take suits or such when there are strict restrictions on flight luggage maximum weights.
