The last time we were here was 15+ years ago. It has changed. The old city is defiled by endless stores, and souvenir shops. It really takes away from Salzburg’s one time old world charm. It’s another shopping and consumer center. The once quiet streets are filled throngs of people and it can feel overwhelming.

Imagine Mozart and « Sound of music» in one and same city. You get this in Salzburg. But there are so much much more. This city is worth visiting

Salzburg the birth place of Mozart. If you’re into classical music every August is where they have classical outdoor music festival. Also if you’re a sound of music fan, this is definitely the place for you. Majority of the background scenes were filmed here in Salzburg from the pavilion, big mansions and castles on top of the hills.

It is an amazing city with so many things to see. Following the Sound of Music tours and many historic places. Take one of the horse and carts though the centre of town.

My daughter and I visited this place and stayed very pleased with its sights. Salzburg has an important history , it 's a very picturesque place , and its people have a music education that doesn 't go unnoticed . We will definitely visit again!

The city is wonderful, full of magic. Many businesses and points of interest. The river has a beach. The Mirabell Palace is fantastic from the outside, full of flowers.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND walking at night since there are many drugged, some aggressive. I had an ugly experience.

The Kapuzinerberg is Salzburg's local mountain. From Linzer Gasse, it's a 1.5-2km walk to the top, climbing about 150 metres in altitude. As a reward, you'll be treated to a fantastic view of the city.

Little signage, neglected trails and very steep slopes. Although there are good views, the risk is not justified

It is not well sign posted and there is no view at all into the old town. It is all blocked by trees. Definitely not worth it.

Buongiorno,
la strada che sale al colle è abbastanza ripida ed impegnativa (circa 30-40') e, oltre la chiesa (che non ha grande spessore artistico) si può proseguire la passeggiata anche nel parco.
Il punto di forza è, a mio parere, il panorama sulla città (di fronte c'è la fortezza) e la passeggiata ha senso forse più nelle ore diurne che notturne per apprezzare al meglio la veduta.
Non mi è parso che fosse una zona pericolosa e, quindi, non ci sono problemi anche per una donna sola.
In merito ai mezzi di trasporto non ricordo bene, perchè noi siamo saliti a piedi (e scesi dall'altro lato sempre a piedi), ma potrebbe dare un'occhiata al sito del trasporto pubblico di Salzburg.
In ogni caso le consiglierei la passeggiata solo se avesse tempo a disposizione, perchè altrimenti se il suo soggiorno fosse breve (ad esempio, 2-3 giorni) le suggerisco di dare priorità ad altre attrazioni e di ammirare panorami sulla città più apprezzabili (tra questi quello imperdibile dalla fortezza).

Am planning to be in Salzburg soon and wanted to know more about the climb? How long does it normally take? And is there any place to rest if I feel tired? Not really fit and have some back pain. Thx for ur help in advance 😊

It pretty much depends on your body. It took me around half an hour with frequent rests. I haven't done any significant climb in a while and I was tending a back and knee that could act up any time, so I didn't want to force it. So, I'm sure there will be lots of people who can walk up faster. The good news is that there are a good number of benches along the trails. And it is quite relaxing up top at the Franziskischlössl, where you can sit down and rest all you want before heading back down. Drinks are quite pricey up there, so bringing your own might be a good idea, too.
