Schloss Belvedere is within walking distance

Passed through Vienna Hauptbahnhof a couple of times in late February and early March 2023. Typical busy transportation hub. Large station in a modern building. Signage and displays make it easy to navigate. Luggage lockers are available. It has a few markets and many eateries. Schloss Belvedere is within walking distance.

Efficient

Main train station in Vienna goes domestically, internationally and to the airport. Has metro and tram outside. Connects to a mall for shopping and food.

Lots of screens and announcements in multiple languages. Very clean and safe. Excellent transport hub.

First and last stop

If you are going in or out by train, use this station. 10-15 minutes from major attractions, shopping and the only grocery store open on a sunday that i saw, you need to at least know where it is even if you dont use it.

Situada relativamente perto no núcleo central de Viena, é a estação principal da cidade e apresenta-se-nos limpa e moderna com uma arquitectura moderna e diferenciada. Disponibiliza todo o tipo de ligações desde comboio, metro, autocarro, táxis. Na realidade possui um generoso centro comercial com supermercado, restaurantes e lojas de todo o tipo. A estação é bastante funcional com fácil acesso e muito intuitiva mesmo para quem não fala alemão. As máquinas de venda de bilhetes são igualmente muito intuitivas e a rede de metro cobre toda a cidade e inclusive ultrapassa os limites de Viena. A rede de comboio fornece também ligações para as principais capitais europeias com comboios modernos e eficientes.

Busy train station

Wien Hauptbahnhof Sud is a great railway station that's always well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to this most beautiful of city's ,in reality you'll probably arrive from the airport to this station ,it's huge but lots of pubs,bars,cafés and fast food outlets in the station , it's busy , staff here are helpful ,it's just a really good transport hub ,only downside is there seems a lot of homeless people milling around the station ,we were here in December and it was exceptionally cold so I suppose the station is warm and who blames them for seeking warmth ,I've never seen anything untoward going on here but I suppose petty crime does occur but it's a well policed railway station and very safe.

Modern Central Station

We stayed at the Novotel Wien HBF which was right next door to this station and convenient for our onward travel.

This station became operational in 2015 and is a modern train station and does lack some of the historical charm of some of Europes older ststions.

With 268,000 daily commuters it is Austria's busiest long-distance railway station.

This station has many food outlets and an OBB customer service centre.

Viena é a capital mundial da mobilidade urbana. Não conheço outro lugar que seja tão fácil se deslocar através de transportes públicos ou compartilhados. A Estação central é um espetáculo, não só por concentrar linhas férreas, metrô e ônibus, como também por ter um mini shopping center em suas dependências. Ah, estava me esquecendo, a estação é praticamente no centro da cidade.

Super Bahnhof!

Der Hauptbahnhof in Wien ist sehr übersichtlich gemacht, sehr sauber und mit ausreichend Geschäften für den Bahnkunden versehen. Zudem sehr gut an den ÖPNV angeschlossen. Einfach großartig. Schade, dass andere Städte nicht Ähnliches bieten.

Großzügig gestalteter, moderner, weitläufiger Bahnhof mit 5 Geschossen, von denen 4 öffentlich zugänglich sind (Bahnsteige, Bahnhofshallen, Servicecenter, Gastronomie, Einkaufscenter und Parkgaragen). Sämtliche Bereiche sind gut ausgeschildert und mit einem vorbildlichen Fahrgastinformationssystem ausgestattet.

Im gesamten Hbf besteht freier Zugang zu leistungsfähigem WLAN und Anschlüssen für Ladegeräte sowie Sitzplätze im Wartebereich und in der ÖBB Lounge (das ist mein Aufenthaltsort zwischen zwei Zügen).

Mindestens 2 x stündlich direkte Fernverkehrsverbindung zum Flughafen VIE (Flughafen Wien Bahnhof), zusätzlich mehrmals stündlich REX- und S-Bahn-Züge mit 1 x Umsteigen (via Wien Rennweg) zum Flughafen VIE.

Die ÖPNV-Anbindung des Bahnhofs ist sehr gut. Das Stadtzentrum ist mit U-Bahn (U1, 3 Stationen bis Stephansplatz), Straßenbahn und Bus leicht erreichbar. Allerdings ist zu beachten, dass die Wege innerhalb des weitläufigen Bahnhofs Zeit beanspruchen. Sämtliche Bahnsteige und die Stationen von U-Bahn und Straßenbahn sind barrierefrei zu erreichen.

Wenn es interessiert: Schloss Belvedere, Botanischer Garten, 21er Haus und HGM (Arsenal) sind in kurzer Gehwegdistanz oder mit der Straßenbahn erreichbar.

Good place … clean … only tuing missing is a information center for foreigners.. still almost have everything. Metro stations are near.. hotels are around.. good coffee places … lot of police 🤦🏽‍♂️😛… and supermarkets really help.
