Wir haben die Tour «Early evening Northern Light Cruise» gebucht. Zu Beginn gab es spannende Informationen zu den Nordlichtern und viele Fototipps (Stative stehen auf Wunsch zur Verfügung). Bereits die Fahrt durch Tromsøysundet ist bei Dunkelheit ein tolles Erlebnis: Das Lichtermeer der Stadt, die Tromsøbrua usw.
Kaum hatten wird das Stadtgebiet verlassen, ging es bereits los mit dem grandiosen Feuerwerk am Himmel. Eine gute Stunde lang Nordlichter vom Feinsten. Wir hatten riesengrosses Glück, denn eine solche Show gibt es nicht jeden Tag zu sehen. Die Zeit ging leider viel zu schnell vorbei.
Das Schiff bietet aufgrund der bewussten Limitierung der Anzahl Gäste mehr als genug Platz. Draussen an Deck, wie auch in der gemütlichen Stube, wo man sich bei Kaffee, Tee und Kuchen aufwärmen kann.
Die Betreuung durch die Gastgeber war sehr herzlich. Wir waren und zwischendurch nicht mehr sicher, ob wir hier Gäste oder Teil der Familie sind.
Wir empfehlen die Tour all denen, welche nicht in Massen stundenlang in einem Bus bis in die frühen Morgenstunden durch die Gegend fahren wollen. Wer eine Tour sucht, wo die Gastgeber mit viel Engagement für das Wohl der Gäste sorgen, ehrlich, herzlich und ohne unnötigen Schnickschnack, ist hier goldrichtig.

This was our second Northern Lights trip during our week in Tromso and we had already seen the Lights at a base station, but we had been told that the Lights would be even better on this night. We had booked this trip before we went to Tromso - it offered a home-cooked meal of freshly caught fish and they promised a good view of the sky from the water just outside Tromso. The boat left at 8.30pm. There were eight adults and a small child on board plus the husband and wife team who ran the boat. Dinner was served about a hour into the trip. It was a delicious meal of cod served with boiled potatoes, onions with bacon and vegetables with cheese. We helped ourselves to the food from big serving dishes on the table. It was delicious and there was plenty to go round. We were also offered a glass of wine or beer at no extra charge (a real bonus, as alcohol is very expensive in Norway). However, for me the highlight was the display of the Northern Lights which were already displaying and continued to perform throughout the night. During the display we saw various figurations, including a corona and a cascade. Although the Lights were mainly white I could see small amounts of purple and even some red. The captain of the boat kept turning the boat around to give us the best view as the Lights changed position in the sky. Most of the others came out on deck for short periods and for a lot of the evening I had the top deck to myself. Why would I go inside when such a show was going on? Inside I think people were offered biscuits, chocolates and hot drinks. I have a couple of small complaints, one was the small child who was very bored and kept getting in everyone's way. The other is that the owners of the boat didn't take photos. Our camera wasn't really up to the job and we were so grateful to have been sent photos of the Lights from the base station, so it would have been wonderful to have had a photographic memory of the display from the boat. Nevertheless they did supply tripods for people to borrow. We arrived back at the pier at 11.30pm having had an unforgettable evening. The trip including food and drink cost £140 per person and it was worth every penny.

Many thanks for your good feedback. Really appreciated. I am really sorry that my camera did not work this evening. I usually try to take photos if our guests ask me to, and send it to them by email. It has been out use some weeks because I had to send it to reparation. I try to give information about how to set the camera to our guests, but I am not a proffecional myself. Sorry for that. Our main focus is to give you a memorable experience with watching the lights with your naked eye. We have never focused that much on photographing . It always looks better on photos,and we like to focus on the real show. People do have very high expectations nowadays, and I think it is because of all the photos that they see on the sosial medias.

I do not comment on the fact that due to the cloudy night we did not see almost any northern lights, but the fact that the group of 12 people, apart of serving dinner, has been left without any guide activity, any information about the place we were, surrounding places, attractions (Tirpitz was sunk there!) was to say least - strange. The captain was out on his deck, but the cook who was all the time with us did not do anything to bring any activity to us, while we were just standing in the middle of the fjord for over 2 hours, hoping that the sky above us opens up. Totally unused potential and in fact wasted time. Food was OK, freshly prepared cod, but certainly not great culinary experience.
All in all, quite a disappointment due to lack of organisation and guiding support.

Many thanks for your feedback even though it was not so good. and actually very unusual to hear about our trips. I can not imagine that our hosts does not care about our guests. We really try to give information all the way if people are interested in listening to us. We do not usually tell about Tirpitz on the northern light cruise if our guests do not ask about it, since we are not close to this area at all in the evenings it is not naturally to talk about this on the evening cruises.. On the day cruises we do. But we shall always give information about the lights and also other things that might be of interest. If our guests have a good light an seems to be pleased with the company of othter guests we do not disturb to much with talking and giving our stories. We serve a traditional Norwegian Fish Dinner on board, which usually is verey high appreciated ...we actually often hear that it is the best meal they had on their trip to Norway. Not a decorated restaurant meal, but simple and good fresh food. I am sorry that you felt this way and would therefore really appreciate some more information. I would really appreciate if you could send me an email on post@havcruise.no to explain what really happened and why you felt this way. I would also like to know who the host on board was this evening if you know?.
