Enjoyed our visit to the Aaslesunds Museum

The Aalesund Museum tells the story of the city in four floors in a beautiful, historic old residence. The exhibits begin with the early settlement of the area and continue through the first period of economic development - fish, trade, ship building and supporting commerce - through the fire of 1904 and the redevelopment of the city in its Art Nouveau style. The museum emphasizes the areas maritime past and present and offers insight into the city's growth from a backwater into a regional capital. The basement has an exhibit on the War years. From 1939, through the occupation of Norway in 1940, to the efforts of the Norwegian resistance and the struggle against Nazism, to the liberation in May 1945. The entire exhibit was only in Norwegian, with no booklet, cards or other translation available for non-Norwegian speakers. This was the only disappointment with the Aalesunds Museum. A great place to visit - especially if the weather is poor!

Veldig fint og interessant museum

Veldig lærerikt, interessant og fint museum om forskjellig byhistorie og arkitektur. Artig for voksne og ungdommer. Hyggelig betjening. Anbefales et besøk for både lokale og turister!

Nyttig informasjon om byhistoria

Eit nokså ordinært lokalmuseum / bymuseum, men det er lett tilgjengeleg og nyttig informasjon om byhistoria og ein del anna relevant historisk materiale. Det er nok ikkje av den kategorien museum som er mest fengande for dei yngste, så småbarnfamiliar har truleg meir glede av å dra til "søstermuseet" (Sunnmøre Museum), som ligg meir landleg til og har båtar på sjøen. Aalesunds Museum er heller ikkje godt tilrettelagt for dei som har vanskar med å ta seg fram i trapper.

Veldig flott museum

Jeg elsker museer, og har vært på en del forskjellige både i inn- og utland. Dette utmerket seg som et veldig flott og vel gjennomført museum. Spennende utstillinger, flere ganske unike ting. Vil spesielt trekke fram utstillingen om bybrannen, veldig interessant og godt fortalt. Resepsjonisten var også veldig hyggelig og hjelpsom. Absolutt vel verdt et besøk om man har lyst til å lære mer om Ålesunds historie!

Great View over Ålesund Town.

From here are you able to cross the local park to have a Great View over Ålesund Town, also in the museum there is good examples of boats, the development of the town & information concerning the WWII in Ålesund.

Very interesting

This museum because it gives a history of the town and the region and in particular it highlights how brave the locals were during the German occupation in WWII.
