Un baptême de plongée inoubliable . Un énorme merci à Bernard pour la chaleur de son accueil et sa si gentille mise en confiance , à Nando pour sa discrète et humoristique compagnie et mon infinie reconnaissance à Yo pour l’efficacité de son briefing . C’est lui qui m’a ´pilotée ´pendant cette première plongée à jamais inoubliable !!
Cependant pour passer mon OW , j’ai choisi MY BASE un dive center voisin bien plus accueillant administrativement parlant .

Perfect diving. My longest one. Anniversary dive for me. Pro divers, i felt calm, relaxed and fully satisfied. Thanks to Nando! Even without english language we had no problem with communication and having fun! If you want to try diving or you are a pro diver this place is definietly for you! 100% recommendation from me;) Cheers for you guys./Greg

Great staff, very nice dive masters, they were professional and all. Would have recommended but…
The management changed recently (6 months ago) and now it’s managed directly by the owner, who - despite being quite nice when you meet with her - has absolutely no business sense.
You now have to pay twice for your equipment if you dive twice on the same excursion (without coming back on shore nor changing anything regarding the equipment, apart from the bottle of course). I’ve never seen such a policy on all the dive centers I’ve been to.
If they have to cancel a dive on a specific site due to bad conditions (for example the shark dive) and then make you dive on a nearby site but that has no sharks (and basically nothing very special to see), they still make you pay the extra amount related to sharks instead of giving a discount (or voucher) corresponding to the price difference between a shark dive and a regular dive (so basically you end up paying for the extra fuel needed to go to the shark dive site, and then can only hope that the conditions will allow you to see the sharks otherwise it’s your loss because they will still go to the dive site regardless of the conditions since you will pay anyway).
If you go for a two-dives excursion but decide to cancel the second one once onboard, after the first one, because you feel unwell, don’t expect any discount or voucher of course.
Regardless of how many dives you make, how recurring a customer you can be, don’t expect this diving center to have the slightest commercial flexibility. You’re just a regular cash cow tourist. Too bad… fortunately there are other very good diving centers nearby, with very friendly staff as well.

I had a great time diving with Ocean Spirit in April 2023. The team are super friendly and were great with communication before and during the dives. Really easy to organise dives with them. Located in a popular area of Mauritius so easy to get to if you're staying in and around Grand Baie, with some stunning dive sites just a short boat ride away, don't think I've ever been able to get in the water so quickly on a dive before!
The dive team were great, very easy to talk to and relaxed but still efficient and organised. I did a total of 3 dives with Bernard and Bobby, both of whom were quick to put me at ease and were able to deliver some great aquatic wildlife; round ribbon tailed rays, octopus, Scorpion-fish etc. Nice to meet Jill too; her enthusiasm for diving in Mauritius is infectious!
Would certainly recommend OS diving for anyone looking to do some diving in Mauritius, a great little find!

I would like to share the horror experience my husband and I made with this diving school first, afterwards I will tell the whole story.
My husband got out of oxygen on 12 m deep in the ocean and was not able to breath anymore and I saw everything! Huge shock!
How could this happen within a supervised DSD dive??? Not excusable!
But from the beginning.. I did a fun dive one time before, my husband never dived and wanted to try it. We booked the DSD course and came to the dive school where this nice guy gave us all the equipment and went with us to the beach to explain all the basics in 1m deep water. We felt really comfortable and safe with him. He ensured to us that we will feel comfortable and that we do everything slowly and he will do all the technical stuff for us. Everything seamed highly professional to us.
We were told that we will go up to 6-8 meters, but then he brought us on a boat and we went with a group and we were told now 12 meters... little difference but hey, we felt comfortable...
On the boat was this family and they had a boy crying because he was afraid to drive, so the guide we felt comfortable with left us behind and we went into the water with another guide we did not know before. We told him few times that this is our first dive.
As we started to go deeper he was not really patient with us so we kind of rushed down there.. despite any fears and panics we had. That lead to bleeding in both of my eyes since I blowed my nose way too hard to be able to go deeper because I'm not trained and should not do this within so less time but others of the group waited at the ground of the ocean for us.. but okay this can happen and it will go away.
But what might not go away is the shock my husband got. Within the dive his oxygen level went to 40 bar and we learned under 50 its time to get up so he swam to the guide and showed him and he just waved his hand, so he thought well not jet a problem.. but no 5 minutes later nothing came out of the bottle anymore, he looked around and the guide was not next to him. So without any air to breath he started swimming towards the guide and giving him hand signs that he could not breath. After a few seconds he gave him his backup mouth piece and the three of us went up slowly. Back on the boat they mentioned that this would be no big deal and can happen.
Fortunately nothing seriously happened but this thing was really messed up! This is not supposed to happen! This can never happen under supervision of a experienced diver from a diving center with one how is first time in his live diving! I cannot believe this!
We made some research and even the internet.. the place where you can find any crazy story was not able to find one other example like this... this never happens!
Regarding the whole trip I don't think that this diving school is bad in particular and mistakes can happen, but at this point we felt very unsafe and I hope that that this is not the normal procedure and will never happen to anyone again.

You are right this never happens.
I have been through all our daily reports and records as we record every event and follow up.
I can't find you name so unfortunately I can't offer you a refund or personal apology. But I cannot see this reported anywhere on our ISO reporting systems.
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience.

My wife and I dived with Ocean Spirit in December 2022. We undertook a total of 26 dives with them, ranging from reef dives, night dives, wreck dives and shark dives.
We are PADI Rescue with 20 years experience and over 400 dives each and always take our own equipment.
We have dived all over the world including South Africa, Maldives, Fiji, Red Sea (5 times), Mexico both sides, Caribbean……. The list goes on and we are also regular UK divers. The reason I state this is to demonstrate that we have other places to compare Ocean Spirit with.
Our interests lie mainly in shark/pelagic encounters and this was the primary reason we booked to dive in Mauritius - don’t get me wrong there are many places in the world where the encounters are greater, but Palau etc from the UK are just too expensive.
Before we booked our flights to Mauritius (£672 return) I contacted a number of dive centres to see what was offered and by whom, I have learned that you get a very early feel for a dive centre from responses you get in advance of booking, some promise the earth or don’t respond or change the information when you probe deeper eg they disclose that you are actually visiting in the wrong season for that species. OS were honest from the start and very responsive to questions, I got the sense they actually cared about managing our expectations, no promises of sightings etc, their website was clear with pricing and they clarified their prices for us taking our own gear, having said that their own gear was of a very high standard and we would have been completely happy to use theirs (we have experienced some appalling dive gear over the years with different centres hence we use our own).
On arrival in Mauritius we went in person to the dive centre and met with the staff who were very friendly and accommodating, it was clear that they cater for every range of experience from non divers undertaking a ‘try dive’, to new starters, to the more experienced.
The staff were a pleasure to deal with and couldn’t do enough to help, everyone has a passion for diving. The owners Jill and Roger are like newbies with their enthusiasm (Roger 40+ years of diving coming up to his 6000 dive!!!). We dived with them both regularly and can say they bring a tranquility and professionalism to the experience, coupled with their professional instructors Bernard (what a character and comedian) Bobby, Yo, Nandi and Dhani.
I will also give a special mention to Jovani (at the helm of their dive boat which is a very comfortable purpose built dive boat not all dive boats in Mauritius are in my view suitable for comfortable or safe entry/exit - choose your dive centre carefully) as an experienced boat skipper myself, it’s very comforting when a skipper with Jovanis experience is dropping you off and getting you out - his boat handling is exceptional.
The diving OS provided was varied with different sites and they go the extra mile to ensure you see as much as you can, IF you decide you want to do the shark dives, which I highly recommend, your experience will be taken into account and your safety managed to an exceptional level.
My acid test is - “Would I book to dive with OS again?”
My answer - 100% definitely yes!!!

El centro de buceo es cómodo porque está justo en frente de la playa de Pereybere. Sus instalaciones no están mal y el instructor con el que estuve (Bernard) es un tío con mucha experiencia. Pero la gestión del centro deja un poco que desear ya que te cobran un MSDA (que llaman ellos) que es como una tasa de la federación nacional de buceo de mauricio que no es necesario tener para bucear.

Mauritius is one of the safest places in the world to dive. The MSDA maintains the standards, buys cleans and sinks wrecks and puts down buoys in sensitive areas.

This is a first class operation from start to finish. Excellent staff- instructors (especially Bobby and Roger), boat handlers and administrative support.
The shark safari was absolutely brilliant - check out the video from 11th December 2022 on their youtube channel.
Great variety of dives on offer with such fabulous wildlife - big stuff, small stuff - that will excite and entrance everyone!

Un club sympathique et dynamique. Beau bateau et encadrants compétents. Les jeunes demoiselles à l accueil sont toujours souriantes et agréables.
Nous avons fait de belles plongées avec ce club sur trois semaines.
Merci a tous. Un merci particulier à Roger.. que je retrouverai avec plaisir dans le sud de la France.

I want to know can we take 3 dives a day in Mauritius ? I saw other dive center website, only 2 dives in the morning a day.

Rs 200 pour l'assurance local valide pour 2 mois.
Nous vous proposons des forfaits de 4 - 6 - 10 - 15 plongee avec des discount.
