All weather lifeboat centre tour

My husband and I attended the RNLI all-weather lifeboat centre tour, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and informative. We would highly recommend this.

Wow, what an experience!

Our guide, Shaun, was excellent, not only did he provide us with lots of facts and figures, he was able to answer all of our questions. The tour is very interesting and gives an excellent insight into the invaluable work undertaken by volunteers in extreme conditions. The simulator is good fun, but it's certainly not easy! The college is an amazing facility and it's humbling to be able to see behind the scenes of such an important charity. Thanks Shaun for a great afternoon.

Fantastic tour. Thanks to Evelyn

The tour was amazing. Our guide, Evelyn, was very knowledgeable, passionate about the RNLI and did a great job of engaging my daughter. It was a great mix of behind the scenes, hands on (driving the lifeboat simulator was fab), talking and video. Very good value for money and a great way to support the RNLI and better understand the amazing work they do everyday. A ‘must do’ in Poole.

Well worth the visit

Really enjoyed the tour and our guide Shaun was very knowledgeable and made the tour a really great experience and one i would throughly recommend.
The simulator was a particular highlight!

Excellent tour. Worth a visit.

Excellent tour. Very informative and an excellent tour guide in Stuart. All done with humour and very interesting facts about the RNLI and all the good they are doing. I had no idea so much was done at the college or what was involved. A must visit for anyone from Dorset or visiting the area.

Fabulous place, friendly staff and great tour if you have kids. The ride in the simulator is fantastic and very realistic. Highly recommended.

Fascinating and very informative

A comprehensive tour of the facilities here (except boat building which is a separate tour). The tour started outside where the different lifeboats were discussed and the history and key activities of the RNLI also introduced, then moved indoors to show us the key training facilities. The information was presented by our excellent guide and also by video clips.
The RNLI have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to plan these tours as different activities could be seen depending on what courses were underway. The highlight was going in the navigation and piloting simulator - so realistic that you felt you were in a lifeboat!

Awesome tour

What a fantastic tour, I went with my 9yr son. We both really enjoyed it. A big thank you to our tour guide- Stuart Lindsay he was brilliant.
Well worth a visit.

Great day out.

Had a great tour of the RNLI buildings in Poole. Nick was extremely knowledgeable about the history, the boats, training and the work the RNLI do both at home and abroad. We only had five people on our tour which was good and my niece who was in a wheelchair was able to join in without any issues. Her husband was allowed to drive the boat in the simulator which was very realistic and made you realise how lucky we are to have all the volunteers who gladly undertake this work in what can be terrible condition. Will certainly take more visitors here and try the boat building tour.

Only negative I would have is there is a lot of standing and it might have been nicer if we could have sat down somewhere for some of the chats although I appreciate this is a working environment and therefore not so easy to organise.

Enlightening!

Great tour, went several years ago but this visit took us to new areas and lots more detail. The training pool is always fascinating but the engineering area was so interesting and our guide Chris was very knowledgeable. Good fun again on the simulator but showed the amount of skill and guts needed by the RNLI volunteers to keep a cool head to save our lives at sea.
So grateful for their dedication.
