在英国待了半个月吧，全程坐火车，没想到这边火车是非常方便的。哈德良长城的历史感很强！在trainpal买了railcard，最近输RC777F这个码还打八折，交通无忧，推荐给大家！

哈德良长城是我们来到罗马文兰迪亚遗址参观的第一站。这地方真是超酷的，但我们觉得可以增多些讲解信息，好让我们在长城散步时可以学习到知识。我们花了一小时左右才逛完。接着，我们开车去到斯第尔里格，就在城墙旁散步。这地方超赞的，当时天气也很给力，所以我们看到的景色很美哦。我们只往上走了半英里-刚开始的时候路很陡峭，但就算你是个像我一样身材走样中年人，这段路也还是走得了的。我们边走边找树木，但都走累了还没找到，只能掉头离开。我们走了总共一英里，离下一个景点不过一个村庄加上一个萧山的距离，所以我觉得来这观光还是挺有挑战的。走去树林要75英里，要经过3,4个陡峭的斜坡，还要穿过村庄。但不管怎样，这段路的景色也很不错，而且触摸下这些城墙也是一生难得的体验。

很棒的出行，很享受一年中的好天气，也很享受美景。长距离的步行也非常赞。枫树峡口很容易就到了，路上的田野里还惊喜地看到一头牛。从堡多斯沃尔德到吉尔斯兰，沿着长城的保护区步行小段距离。各景点员工和志愿者都非常友好且乐于助人。

令人愉快的英国乡村之旅。自行车道在很多地方都离墙很远但有很多次它与之紧密相连。这次旅行的最佳部分是在布兰普顿和科索恩之间。自行车路线在大部分时间里都在缓慢地起伏，在Haltwhistle附近的一些艰难的攀登会让你的心脏怦怦直跳。我们从伊恩·罗彻斯特那里租来了自行车。他说，明年他可能会提供自行车和步行的选择，在那里你可以在开始和结束部分骑自行车，走过最令人惊叹的部分，在那里，步行的小路和墙壁很近。我们会考虑再来一次，只是想靠近那堵墙，它真的很亮眼。

哈德良长城的某些部分比其他部分的条件更好，所以要小心地计划你的步行。它73英里长，你可以从沃尔森德靠近纽卡斯尔到索尔威湾鲍内斯步行整个长度。穿一些合适的鞋子，因为在某些地方走路很困难。罗马军队博物馆值得一看。

what are the costs for the accommodation that you stayed at. I'm trying to compare using a company as opposed to booking independently.

Hi, the accommodation along Hadrian's Wall is expensive
(£100 +) and in particular it seems that the various stays have increased the price this year because it's difficult to go abroad. I would also advise you to research your accommodation so that it isn't far away from the main hiking path.
In June 2021, which was a quiet month, I found some cheap stays:
£32.00 Cartref Guest House B&B in Carlislle
£59.00 for a double room/ no breakfast at the new YHA The Sill at Hadrian's Wall (5 mins walk there is an excellent to pub to have a dinner)
£30.00 self catering/ room with shared bathroom/ breakfast at Greencarts Farm
Alternatively, many walkers stay in one place and walk a distance each day and then take the bus back to their hotel because the accommodation is very limited along the path.

We are visiting Northumberland toward end of July and plan a visit to Hadrians Wall. Best recommendations please for which area to visit. Been looking at Housesteads or Chesters.
teenage Children keen to walk on Wall but wife unable to walk long distance so would like somewhere with enough to see, and access to Wall.

We will be travelling from Carlisle to Newcastle by train and was wondering if there are any intermediate stations where we could break our journey and within a reasonable walking distance of some of the Hadrian's wall sites.

Hi Stewart, well the easiest is Hexham. The Cathedral there is built with stones from the wall, it's also a good place to pick up the AD122 bus (from Easter 2020). Haltwhistle railway station is close (ish) to Turret 41a, Bardon Mill railway station is very close to Vindolanda and the Sycamore Gap. Heddon-on-the-Wall is close (ish) to Wylam railway station, But the easest is Corbridge railway station, which is near Corbridge Roman town.
I can also recommend English Heritage website for simple background information in regards to locations. Best of luck on your adventure to the limits of empire.

I believe there are no difficulties to walk along the wall with dogs.There are paths and roads. Just be careful of traffic.

It’s better to walk the Wall from west to east (so the prevailing westerly winds are behind you). Carlisle Tourist Information Centre can give you the names of local companies who can help with reservations and baggage transfers. Or try HadriansWallCountry website for other options.

That all depends where you want to go. There are admission fees into Birdoswald, Carvoran, Housesteads, Vindolanda and Chesters, and fees payable at several of the car parks. No charge for parking at Banks Turret though.
If you want a guided tour, I suggest you look at hadrianswallcountry website and choose a guide from there. Good luck with your plans!
