Centrally located park

A nice park near the centre of Carlisle. Has some lovely walking tracks, gardens, and borders the Eden and Caldew Rivers. Plenty of seating areas and great spot for a picnic.

Lovely park by the River Eden. A short walk from Carlisle city centre and part of the Hadrian's wall trail. Lots of space for running, walking, picnicing and playing. Beautiful flowers

Beautiful park in the city centre.

Concert at Bitts Park

Good concert shame about the organisation. Went to Tom Jones seats were uncomfortable and one level. Result was when he came out everybody stood up and you could see nothing. Screen quality was shocking and they were so low you couldn’t see them either. Not a good experience. Not designed or organised enough to be used for concerts.

Bitts Park is just on the edge of Carlisle City Centre and is next to the castle. There are plenty of paths to walk on as well as a play area, cafe and toilets. There is a huge statue of Queen Victoria near the entrance to the park which is quite grand.

It's a great place to walk and enjoy the fresh air.

City centre park great section for kids with swings ect all free to use also there is a good selection of food and drink outlets under cover

Bits Park is a small, city centre park that sits between the Castle ramparts and the River Eden and is a pleasant place for a stroll. As well as the expected play areas and gardens, the park has nice pathways alongside the river. It also has plenty of benches and a decent looking cafe, so is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

beautiful gardens to look around in the sunshine

We ended the first day of our hike along Hadrian's Wall at Bitts Park and started again from here the next morning. We also spent a pleasant hour wandering around the gardens in the sunshine, there were lots of pretty flowers to see and plenty of shaded walkways lined with impressive trees. Pleasant walks along the river at the park and by walking a bit further under the bridge then out onto some fields.

There is an impressive statue of Queen Victoria with more formal planting of lovely summer flowers. The play areas looked like fun, but we don't have kids. There is a fun mini musical garden with instruments to play, which we adults enjoyed too - sanitising hands before and after of course! :-S

Our impression of Carlisle is that there isn't a lot to do here? But we only spent 1 day having a look around, before starting our coast to coast walk along Hadrian's Wall.

We liked the representation of Hadrian's Wall outside of the Tullie House Museum, the unique carvings at Carlisle Castle and the cursing stone in the underpass between this museum and the castle was different! Mostly we enjoyed walking around Bitts Park for an hour in the sunshine. Located a short 10 minute walk from Carlisle city centre.

Excellent play park with lots to do in Carlisle city within minutes walk

We came here on our way to solway holiday village to let the kids have a play before continuing our journey. We were surprised at how good it was. There was a lack of seating but we sat on grass as weather was good. The children enjoyed the range of equipment and the sand pit. We saw a sign for toilets but we didn’t use them as we weren’t sure if they were open or how far we’d have to walk to get them. We walked across road (1 minute) to toilets at indoor market. We paid for 2 hours parking at £2.40. This place is handy for walking into Carlisle town centre and seeing Carlisle Castle which you can see the wall from park. We also took a wander across over road bridge and saw the Abbey and Cathedral. I would highly recommend a visit here for 3-4 hours to see if all .
