We parked at the National Trust car park near to the Observatory, walked through the woods and then out onto the coastal path, tracking along the coast path until we reached the steep downhill towards Sidmouth. There are some spectacular views of the red rocks of the Jurassic coastline. The downhill to Sidmouth and into the town was a great walk with views over Sidmouth (tougher going back!) and the town itself is fab, so we stopped for ice creams and some time on the beach. Total distance walked was around 5 miles, the youngest in the party was 7yrs and she managed it. Definite recommend.

A varied walk following the Jurassic coast ..Each way out of Sid mouth is a steep start ..You will need to reach the donkey sanctuary or Otterton before you are able to catch a bus back to the start

Whilst staying at Ladram Bay Caravan Park an no surf, my husband and I decided to walk the coastal path to Sidmouth.
Very hot day and very hard terrain. We kept hoping that there would be no hedges so we could enjoy the coastal views. These were very few and far between
We passed so many people doing the same on a staycation and having to keep trying to find pull ins to allow safe distancing

Sidmouth Town Walk: This isn't just around town its about 6 miles and a good climb up steps and along the coastal route area. You need some fitness to do this one.
Absolutely love Sidmouth, lovely walking area and of course the sea.. Lots of different shops and superb fish and chips at The White Horse Cafe (sit in or take away)
Must have been good as a seagull had to be shooed out before opening time!
The gardens are excellent and their cafe over looking the sea.
Sidmouth tourist board were brilliant at sending me a brochure or you can get information on their website.
Enjoy your visit, we did.

Everything about Sidmouth is just fabulous,but to walk the Jurassic coast line is something else!
So peaceful,with no hustle and bustle this is a must “to do” whenever you are in Sidmouth.

We visited Sidmouth for the day and walked the Quay area and along the river. Afterwards we strolled through town. Charming town with a lovely location and great shops.
