We did a short paddle up river and back but there are many other adventures to be had. Others were heading down to Ross-On-wye and getting a taxi or shuttle back to the campsite.

Half Day Trip was just fantastic for 4 x Novices, relaxed introduction and welcoming hosts, eased us on to the River and roughly 3 hours later at the pick up point drove us back to their car park

Five old friends on a reunion, we did a half day trip down the Wye from Hay to Witney Toll Bridge - including a stop on a great little beach for a swim.
Patrick was brilliant getting us kitted up and on the water - clear and helpful paddling tips - excellent instructor! Then we laughed and splashed our way downstream to the fantastic cafe at Witney - five stars for coffee and cake - and Rob gave us a lift back to the car - what a brilliant morning and superb staff - really professional and relaxed - totally recommend.

We had a lovely few hours expertly canoeing down the Wye to Whitney after a precision safety briefing from Cam (amusing to hear of misadventures beginning with "I shouldn't have to tell you this, but..."). The canoe was very forgiving for two dunces like us and was a tranquil and picturesque way to spend a morning. The connection back was easy, and we would absolutely do it again. Next time to Chepstow!

Friendly, helpful staff made sure that this was a good, safe experience.
I would allow about 2 hours for the canoe trip, and the staff are happy to then drive you back to the start point.
The River Wye is certainly shallow in some places (which makes it more fun), so be prepared to either jump out and push when you get stuck or push hard off with a paddle. I'd suggest wearing crocs to cover all bases!

We had a great time doing the 5 mile journey. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the views were spectacular. The route is good for all ages and those with little, if any, experience. We would love to do it again sometime.

Great experience!
Really helpful and pleasant on the phone . Easy to book. Informative email received prior to trip.
Good parking. Paid on arrival. Welcomed by Cameron who was polite, helpful, cheerful, patient, reassuring and informative !
Offered a drink on arrival - tea/ coffee/ water.
Dry bags / barrels; life jackets provided.
Canoe trip down the river from Hay to Whitney Toll Bridge was fab - a few fast bits but nothing scary!
Can go as fast or slow as you like. We stopped off for a picnic . Did it in about 3hrs.
The guy at Whitney ( sorry can’t recall your name!) was lovely too - made sure the canoe was close in to the bank and helped us out . Chatty and pleasant and drove us safely back to Hay.
Weather was amazing so it really was the perfect canoe experience!

Very friendly people made our canoe trip a memorable experience. Made sure we were all kitted out, including a buoyancy aid for our dog and barrels to keep our gear safe and dry. On site parking, loos and changing facilities and drinks provided during the safety brief. We had lots of fun and its an amazing and very peaceful way to see the river.

Fantastic experience, the staff were brilliant, made us a cup of tea when we arrived at 10am. After paperwork & safety briefing completed, we had a tutorial on a quiet stretch of water, when we were all happy, off we went.
We only booked a "few hours" trip, basically Hay on Wye to Whitney on Wye, the cost does include return car trip, but we opted to walk back via the Herefordshire Trail/Wye Valley Walk via Priory Wood, which is approximated a 5 mile walk through fantastic country lanes & footpaths.

Hi there, we don't have a postcode that will bring you directly to our office... navigate to Bridge Street, Hay on Wye and then look for our big blue signs! :)

Yes you can! We provide dog-buoyancy aids and other useful things like foam squares for the bottom of the canoe and water-bowls to take with you to make your canoe trip as comfortable as possible for you and your four legged friend! Booking essential, please call me on 01497 820604 :)

We have canoed before albeit at slimbridge and not on a real river and enjoyed it. would we be ok on a river ? We can steer but need practice probably. Thanks.

Hi Alyson, thanks for getting in touch..... you've asked a very sensible question, a river is much more variable and unpredictable course to navigate in comparison to a lake. We have very strict rules and policies about when we are able to launch canoes so it is our responsibility to ensure you paddle during safe weather and river conditions and that we have assessed your competence before setting you off on an unaccompanied trip.
If you are mostly limited in experience and not very confident I would recommend taking our Pro-Paddler with you for an instructed session... he can guide groups of up to 8 (if you are greater in number we can bring in more instructors though so no worries there) and the half-day rate for each instructor would be £100 so you can spread the cost across the group. Having an instructor gives you the benefit of being able to learn basic canoe-skills, play games and make the most out of the new skills you've learnt, also take in the scenery and wildlife more easily as you have a guide showing you what to look out for and you are not simply concentrating on keeping the canoe in a straight line as you've got some basic technique from the outset!
If you want to chat further about all this then you can either give me a quick call or email me your questions, it's important that you feel comfortable and confident with the trip format that you book... of-course we take you through a full safety briefing and equip you appropriately depending on your age and ability but it's good to answer as many as questions at this stage so you can enjoy as much time out on the river as possible!
