I visited the place today while it was almost empty. The people at reception were polite and let me in. The building is apparently now a university building.
The dome is large and high and today there was nothing going on so the space under the Dome was empty.

An interesting place to tour, with a student run restaurant as well, and the tour is free. Highly recommended.

The Devonshire Dome is the old stable block from Georgian Times, with domed roof added later. It really is the most amazing space and definitely worth a look.

Someone does! It's not clear who is responsible for this building. At least there was someone to greet us on entry but it was to issue a visitors pass for nothing to visit. The building is fantastic with an amazing history but there is little to tell you about it.

If you have time take 10 minutes out to visit here. There's a surprise if you walk to the middle under the centre of the dome - you'll have to go to find out more! Free entry

The Devonshire Dome is amazing. We were lucky enough to be able to walk in and whilst there met someone who could tell us the history of the building. The echo when you stand in the centre is amazing; you just have to try it!!!

i think you can park in the palace hotel carpark, but you may have to pay, its at the side of the dome

What are the Dome's opening hours at weekends? Is photography allowed inside?

The opening hours can vary depending what is on in the Dome that weekend so we would recommend if you are travelling from a distance and specifically to see the Dome to just call and check on 01332 594643 and then we can advise you the best time to visit. However we do aim to be open every Saturday and Sunday for people to come and have a look. Photos at weekends are fine and after 4.30pm midweek.
