This small, free, Town museum is well worth the visit, not too many exhibits to take in, but well worth spending time and learning about the local history through the centuries. Well kept and presented.

It is free to enter the museum, probably because there is very little to see. One room and that's your lot really. The gift shop / information centre at the entrance to the museum from Castle Quay shopping centre was bigger than the 1 room on display.
Donations are welcome and I would still recommend leaving a donation as museums need our patronage and funding; however, this museum was small and overall disappointing.
Staff welcoming and friendly and toilet facilities plentiful and clean.

We come to Banbury Museum multiple times a year to look at the exhibitions on offer. There are some free exhibitions on local history, which are permanent and extensive. There's lots of interesting things on display and you could easily spend a couple of hours in here - great for families or adults on their own.
The exhibition space is a £5 charge and changes throughout the year, with exhibits usually on for a couple of months. We've seen several here, from robots, British sculpture, wildlife photography etc.. It's a small space, but they do a lot with it and it's worth a pop in, especially given the price. If you have an ArtFund pass it's also 50% off entry.
I'd also highly recommend the shop. It's a great place to pick up small gifts, especially around Christmas. I did a good chunk of my Christmas shopping in there with sections on cooking, gardening, crafts, you're sure to find something!

Visited between Xmas and New Year and was very impressed. The building is new and spacious, the receptionist was extremely helpful and the history display well presented.

I thought it was awful and so did my mother not a good selection even the hot food wasn't a good choice, I remember the cafe was fantastic before it changed.
And I wouldn't recommend it.

What a wonderful Museum it is. So many exhibits and great displays. Some interactive ones for children too. Don’t forget to look at the upper floor too. And it’s free. There’s disabled access with a lift and the whole quayside area has step-free access. Really recommend this wonderful gem!

Should take you less than an hour to walk round. Some interesting stuff giving you the history of Banbury. It’s surprising how many different industries were based in Banbury over the centuries. Good that the museum is free to visit.

Superb Human Form exhibition featuring Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, and many more top notch artists ... !!
Superb cafe with home made bread, cakes and much more. The food and drink is of a very high standard, the people are lovely, it is a beautiful space overlooking the canal and they have excellent taste on music.
And it is very quiet - go there!!!
