This is a different sort of review because today Twyford Wharf Narrowboats came to the aid of us and our own NB Miss Garnet, and we are so grateful to them. We have been moored downstream of the Wharf for a few days, unable to go forward because of the unbelievable amount of rain that has fallen in the area over the past few days. As a result the level of the canal has risen to a point where locks have been closed, effectively leaving boats marooned in one spot. Whilst we and the boat were safely moored and at no risk, we were running low on water and diesel for our stove. Aware of our predicament this company kindly allowed us the chance to reverse our boat back to their base, so we could refill our water tank, and also provided us with some diesel for our stove. We are now safely moored up again with a full tank and a warm boat, waiting for it to stop raining! Forever grateful for their generosity. I am absolutely certain that anyone hiring a boat from this company will experience the same level of care and professionalism. Other reviews clearly confirm this. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Our day on the Comet was lovely. The boat is well stocked and chugs along easily. We went south until we reacher the Great Western Arms and then turned around. Away at 09:30, back at 17:25. Moored up at The Pig Place for coffee and bacon sandwiches. Our route has 3 locks in it - not too many, not too few. The scenery is lovely and the contrast with the motorway that at one point you go under, is delicious.

I have lost count of the number of times we have had a day trip on the Comet dayboat from Twyford wharf narrowboats. Each time it has been a wonderful day out for three generations of our family aged from 18 months to nearly 80 and given us an opportunity to make some wonderful memories.
This year we were blessed with wonderful weather made more enjoyable by a stopover at the pig place where rare breed pigs are bread and turned into wonderful bacon and sausages. The boat is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The scenery is stunning and the people we have met along the canal have always been so kind friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic experience on a day boat. We rented a small canal boy called Comet. Despite my limited captaining experience it was really easy to pick up. The induction helped with the basics and working the locks.
The boat itself was well kitted out. It had a fridge, cooker, crockery in a small kitchen area. They’re also was a nice seating area in the front that was under a canopy. This was ideal for the lovely sunny weather that we had. The trip itself was picturesque. We chose to head south passing lovely villages and pubs.
The company itself were friendly, welcoming and informative. This gave us great confidence in renting and captaining the boat for the day. This is definitely something we want to do again given the quality of our experience.

We loved our experience with Twyford. We rented a day boat called the Comet boat. We had a super quick, polite professional, and friendly induction. I had previously used a canal boat years ago, but picking this up was really easy. The boat was well equipped with a fridge, a cooker and other things that can be found on the website when renting. We had glorious weather and we chugged down the canal and it does take longer than expected. This wasn’t a problem because the scenery was glorious and even our novice standard was able to navigate the three or four locks needed. I would definitely recommend doing this and want to do it again.

The day trip was the highlight of our Cottswold experience. We had watched narrow boats on TV and movies so thought we would experience it. We chose to hire a skipper for the day as we were not experienced with this kind of craft. Glad we did. Not only were his canal life stories extremely entertaining but he was so willing to teach the ropes. The locks were amazing. Views so relaxing and beautiful. Boat was in perfect shape. At the halfway point we stopped at the pub Great Western Arms and had the absolute best Fish & Chips. Highly recommended!!!

We had a great day aboard “Comet”. 6 of us headed down the canal on a very hot day, but with plenty of shade, or sun, if you wanted, it was perfect. The boat was well equipped, clean and ready to go. Very easy to operate, the locks were straightforward and navigation wasn’t a problem.
Overall, a brilliant experience and a really good price, would 100% recommend.

We had such a fantastic day out on the canal using Comet narrowboat. We hired a driver and Mark was fantastic, so enthusiastic and yet chilled out. From the booking procedure, to the boat amenities all was plain sailing so they say! (No pun intended!🤣). We were able to help with the locks etc... I cannot recommend enough as we had a fabulous day, even the sunshine came out to play. If you are thinking of a daytrip on the canal - get it booked with these guys! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Colin was very attentive from beginning to the end, he was quick to answer questions and made me feel our need and experience are totally catered for, even though we only rented for a morning with him being the skipper. We are a group of 11 elderly from Taiwan, no experience what so ever about narrowboat, Colin was very happy to let us all have a little go and get us all involved in operating the locks, which was such fun!! He was also happy to arrange some sandwiches/cupcakes onboard (with a little extra cost) and coffee and tea. We had a fab time! Thank you very much again Colin for this experience of a lifetime :))

The booking for effortless, via the website. Instructions on how to navigate the boat and safety onboard were clear. The boat had all the crockery and was equipped well. We had a great day.
