A lovely little visit. You go into the car park from the main road, there was overspill car park which was being used and it’s February so I assume the car park would be busy during the summer months. You can drive up to the small visitor entrance where you have your membership scanned. There is a disabled toilet there. I saw a “golf buggy” which I think can help you up the hill, ( you maybe able to drive up the visitor entrance and drop off the less mobile visitors) - you would have to drive round and go to the main road and drive back to the car park. There is a lovely garden and house. We couldn’t go upstairs as they are refurbishing it. My friend who I was with said it’s lovely. There is a cafe and it was lovely. I was told the play area was a short walk. There was a lovely activity to make a clay owl- it was £2.00-worth every penny. There is more to see I’m sure but for a half term for a couple of hours it suited. I’ve put the info about mobility to help the less able! I did find the staff lovely, they really try and involve the children, stickers and little games for them to play- find the birds with a strawberry!

We decided to pay an impromptu visit on a day that the house was closed for removal of Christmas decorations (the website didn’t say that however). Couldn’t therefore go inside but visited the art exhibition and stables cafe. Even got a decent paperback for £1 in the book shop.
We will be back when it warms up a little as we do want to go inside the house.

Lavishly decorated mock Tudor home of the 19th century industrialist Manders family with Morris interiors. The room guides couldn’t be more helpful or knowledgeable.
Decent cafe with plenty of seating in the old stables.
Unlike some properties I’ve been to they’ve not gone berserk with excessive Christmas decorations and you can still learn about the house and family.

We took advantage of the free passes the National Trust gave out for October and visited here for a couple of hours.
We started with a walk around the gardens which being Autumn probably werent at their most colourful but its never bad to be in nature and theres a little play area for the kids.
The building itself from the outside looks in excellent condition for nearly 150 years old, inside is equally as impressive with each room fitted out as you imagine it looked in years past.
As with most national trust properties there are volunteers dotted around the place who give you history and information about the property.
In one of the outer buildings theres an art exhibit which is worth spending 10 minutes of your time.
Overall a pleasing way to spend a few hours, as with National Trust properties it can get expensive as a one off visit but a free pass or even better a years membership make it a no brainer.

Probably one of the nicest National Trusts we have visited. Gorgeous house and grounds and the staff in the house were brilliant. Will definitely return.

Just outside the urban sprawl, this is an impressive manor house, much influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement, in particular William Morris. Stained glass windows are a notable feature with several designed by Charles Kempe plus some by Morris.
Unfortunately there was no access to the upstairs rooms on the date of our visit, but this leaves us with an excellent excuse for a re-visit. Loved the house!
The gardens are extensive, but we had insufficient time to explore fully, though we got the impression this is not the best time to visit. Another excuse for a re-visit?

Although the house is not one of the larger ones it had a lovely feel instantaneously, with William Morris furniture and wall paper, interesting paintings and beautiful gardens.
Make sure you visit the Malthouse near the house for more paintings and ceramics.
There are refreshments on site, as well as a shop and parking.

Visiting Wightwick makes for a divine day out. I headed straight to the tea room to claim my free hot drink as a car-free visitor and thoroughly enjoyed seeing how the former stables were repurposed this way. Staff were friendly and very hardworking.
Then I went first to the Malthouse Gallery, where one of the collections of the De Morgan Foundation is based. (A charity which preserves the art of Evelyn & William De Morgan and John Roddam Spencer-Stanhope.) Being connected with the Foundation at the De Morgan Museum in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, seeing Wightwick's own collection was heaven to me, including the newer addition of the tile library on the upper floor. In the Gallery I first met Sally, who was a delight to talk to and so utterly helpful in every way.
Finally, I spent the latter part of my visit in the Manor house and was utterly impressed. (I could stay forever if that was an option.)
The welcome from Jill was so warm and in just about every room I spoke with a really friendly volunteer who pinpointed small details and answered my questions. Wandering around this house is sheer delight.
I was so absorbed with my visit that the gardens must wait until I return! Please take the opportunity to visit Wightwick Manor, I assure you that you won't regret the decision.

Dogs are allowed on leads, but if we want something to eat do we have to sit outside in freezing conditions. Or can well behaved dogs join owners in the cafe please ?
撰写日期:2023年1月26日
Dogs (on leash) need to stay outside the cafe. As in all National Trust/English Heritage cafe venues.

Would it be worth travelling just for the gardens?
Arranging to meet up with a long distance friend for a catch up and this is about an hour and 40mins for both of us but not sure if it will be worth it whilst the manor is closed...

The previous answers are accurate. Few steps & a bit undulating. Gardens are small & not particularly interesting.
