The furniture looks like its been bought piece meal from closed down pubs and you are drinking in a glorified portacabin.
Don’t like the house blond ale, but they do have guest beers & ciders so spoilt for choice on that score. It was fairly busy on a Saturday afternoon with regulars (family’s mostly) and the atmosphere was happy.
Avoid the toilets and enjoy the large outside beer garden if decent weather and you’ll be OK.
Wouldn’t go out of my way, but would nip in again if passing.

Been here many times to music events. Excellent selection of ales brewed on site, very pleasant and helpful staff and a great venue to relax and try the 40 plus different brewed ales and ciders.

Came here as passed it on bus going to Smith Art Gallery from Halifax. Although been to Halifax many a time never ventured this way out of town! Only meant to stay for one, honest.... I started on a pint of cider, but in hindsight shoukd have had a half at over 6%,I then went on to try some stout, then some of the ales, having halves this time... Loved this pkace friendly locals, wonderful selection of ale, seating outside, even a little camping area. Make the trip out of Halifax if you are staying there and sample the delights!!!

They do some food but it's a place to drink. Not just beer you get anywhere but craft beers. The people who go are not there to get drunk but those who care about ale and like to taste drink.
Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable.

We heard about the beer festival over the Bank Holiday weekend and called in for a drink - stayed all afternoon the bands were great and staff very friendly, polite and created a fabulous atmosphere. First time we’d been here and we’ll definitely be back!

Been here a few times but since it has been decorated, new furniture, candles and decor what a great bar,fantastic beer, lovely friendly staff. Great live music. Would definitely recommend.

From the outside just another Local brewery but once inside a warm welcome with an amazing bar and tempting brews to sample.

Went for the first time in a few years last week. Will come back again sooner next time.
Great selection of beers. The 'Hen of the North' and the 'ginger' bitter went doen very well.
The room has been opened up a bit since the last time I cam and it was better for it. Also have a wider selection now including lagers so you don't just have to be a real ale drinker.
