What a lovely park! Boating lake charging reasonable prices, £9 for 3 people to hire a rowing boat. Park entertained kids for an hour or so and the cafe is very nice. My tip would be to put godley Lane entrance into sat nav rather than the hall carpark as its the other side of the parkland and is tiny but the Godley Rd carpark is plenty big enough with an overflow. £5 for the day. Will definitely visit again :-)

Some many ducks and geese to feed, a boating lake, train and play park....all well kept and worth a visit. The park also has cafe and is the grounds for Shibden Hall, plus there is a section on dry stone walls...all well worth a visit.

Fabulous surroundings, ideal for families as well as us older ones.

Duck muck everywhere , Why is itnt it washed down daily disgusting
the benches to sit on are full off moss so cannot sit down
But they can still charge 2 to 4 pound for Parking Calderdale council should be ashamed of themselves.. Day out with children NEVER AGAIN .....................

We walked around the park after visiting the Hall, we stayed most of the day walking around in the woods, enjoying the grounds of the park, theres a train that goes from cafe to the Hall if you can't walk far. Lovely lake and have rowing boats in a small section... plenty of benches to sit to watch the world go by.....

I was absolutely enjoying my day with my father and son until the polish sounding rude arrogant ticket woman refused us entry
She was in a deep conversation with a male colleague and when I walked in she scanned me with this weird look and starting telling me we are closed when there was more than enough time left for us to visit
Will not be visiting again thanks to this arrogant person

A lovely area of parkland to walk around. The paths are well maintained so make for easy walking. There is a lake with wildlife and a children’s park. A little train trundles around which I am sure children will like.

Visited shibden as we do most Sundays and the state of it was terrible with overflowing bins and rubbish strewn everywhere. Calderdale council should be ashamed and with bank holiday tomorrow you should be embarrassed. How does this refect on Halifax? Also what does the parking fees go towards, as its definitely not cleaning the place up or repairing the road which is full of potholes.

I walked these grounds a couple of times during my stay in Halifax.
Beautifully manicured with nice Anne Lister Monument displayed in a separate section.
Free to enter and a real draw card for the town.

Is Shibden open on a Sat / Sunday? Google Maps is telling me it's closed?

As far as I know it is open 7 days a week, we’ve been on weekends (last time was mid September on a Saturday) and cafe, trains, row boats etc were all open and running.

Sorry but this is not a definite answer more of a guess but the boats almost certain open the train a bit doubtful as it’s a voluntary job for the summer months(I once saw it advertised) sorry I can’t be more helpful but be aware top car park is closed and so is the house because of filming

The boats are available in the warmer weather at weekends and school holidays, and have seen them during the week occasionally, but they don't hire out after around September until Easter time. I suppose they don't get the trade when the water is cold.
