Not the highest peak but one of the most fulfilling. It is quite steep in parts although the footpath is well laid out and quite well maintained. It gets very steep towards the top but once you are there the views are amazing and worth the effort. Allow at least two hours for the upward part of the walk. Parking is £5.

Great trek but challenging. Went with a group and it took us about an hour and a half to get to the top. It's reminiscent of Arthur's Seat but a lot steeper with great views of the lochs below. Worth a try but be prepared for a challenge!

A steep walk with steps in to prevent erosion. Not for those with short inside leg measurements! A short walk in mountain walking terms but very steep in places: not quite scrambling but close at times. Superb views from the top.

What a view! it is a short climb, but quite steep in places. The trail is well used and well maintained. It is popular so unless you go early you will not have the place to yourself, but even on a busy day the peak didn't feel crowded. We used poles and were glad we had them. You need to pay for parking so bring some coins or pre-load the RingGo app -- the stations that took a credit card were broken.

Great one to climb but be prepared if your short legged some of the steps are high the start is a work out in its self followed by a more gentle middle section my chihuahua managed it all till the last bit where he turned and looked at me as if I was insane 😂😂so I put him in his body carrier as it was a more tricky scrambling area the top is fabulous the views all worth it I see a lot saying this is for beginners but everyone I seen on way up & down was struggling at points laughing about how we had all been tricked definitely not a breeze if your unfit or clumsy even seen a injured man that had lost his footing 🫣all in all tho glad we went parking can be busy but don’t panic if you arrive and no space just double park and wait there is a turnover and people move every 5 min or so when they are coming down there is also no toilets so stop on the way at Callander and bring coins for the parking unless u have a disabled badge x

We stayed at Lochend Chalets on a log cabin on the edge of lake mentith absolutely fabulous! Nick Nairns restaurant cooking school is there too. You really must eat there.
We were 20 mins drive from Callander great local shops Bakers, Wool shop, Ben Ledi cafe, Gift shops, shoe shop, butchers. You must go to Smiddys for fresh milk and cafe it’s a farm shop too. Also the Woodside which is another cafe farm shop. There are lovely walks in Callander And waterfalls. One visit is never enough.

Really recommend this as a January/February hike as the 360 degrees view of snow covered mountains from the top was stunning.

This is one of the easier mountains to climb that's just outside of Glasgow. The car park is directly opposite the trail up the mountain. There is a fee for the car park, but the ticket machine rarely seems to be working anyway.
It doesn't take long to climb Ben Ahn. Anything between 30 to 60 minutes depending on how fit you are. There's two steep sections sandwiching a fairly flat section. So although it doesn't take long to climb, it'll definitely feel like a workout.
The peak and the bridge at the end of the first steep section are photogenic spots.

Beautiful walk of a good 2 hours starting from a parking lot to the northwest of Lake Achray.
The climb is quite steep continuously, a little difficult at certain times with very large markets marked out by stones. Would not recommend with young children, some turned around.
The view at the top of Lake Katerine is magnificent...

Looking to climb this in a few weeks and taking my Westie with me. Would it be suitable to take him or would he be better staying at home?
撰写日期:2020年7月9日
he should be ok, though he may need help at one part (up and down), there are some very big steps in places which can be slippery.

We are 5 girls who are going to hike Ben A’an in the middle of April. What time of the day is the best if we want to avoid a lot of fog?

I'm a mature pensioner and not a regular hill walker; took me around 4hrs for the round trip with a number of stops to admire the views etc.

Thinking about doing this walk next week (very much a hill walking novice!) will it be safe with snow/ice or would I require walking poles/other tools? I only have warm clothing and walking boots!

I did this walk in the summer and as an inexperienced aged walker it was a real challenge.I certainly would not consider it in wintry conditions.

Any idea where can I get there from Glasgow by public transport?
撰写日期:2017年10月14日
I found this online: By Train & Bus
You can catch a train to Tarbet and then the boat bus across Loch Lomond to Inversnaid.
There are buses from Stirling to Callander (No 59) and from Stirling to Aberfoyle (C11).
Travelling around The Great Trossachs Forest National Nature Reserve by public transport
The local bus service has been replaced by a Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) system. A car or minibus can be pre-booked to take you to your destination (within The Trossachs area), costing the equivalent of a bus fare.
DRT requires 24 hours notice for bookings
By Boat
Cruise Loch Lomond run a ferry service from Tarbet to Inversnaid. The Sir Walter Scott Steamship travels between the Trossachs Pier and Stronachlachar Pier once a day.
A water bus service is also available across Loch Lomond.

Hello, I'm wondering if this would be suitable for me and my dog to walk, she's a husky and tends to pull a lot? Is it likely I would end up on my bottom going down with a dog pulling? Also is it more ridge walking? I'm trying to establish if it is safe and suitable :) thank you x

Hi, thank you for your response.
We attempted to climb Ben A'an, we almost made it to the very top, but as you say, it was very steep.
It was a miserable day and the view was next to nothing as I couldn't see far in front but non the less, we had a go!
I shall return, on a sunny day and maybe with out the pooch.
Thanks again.
