Meant to call here when passing many times & so glad we did & so sad we didn’t before.
Why would anyone go to the chain cafes when there are places like Cross Lanes Organic Farm serving wonderful tasty food free of residual agri chemicals?
And the toilets are magnificent; so unlike motorway services

Had a great breakfast but frozen meal we bought for cooking later was soooo salty it was almost inedible

Disappointing. I called here for the organic shop it's a regular route I now take my, firstly you have to get a table then order, as a solo person I chose my table and went to order, on my return new customers had sat at my chosen table, there were no other free tables, so they stayed until another one became free, they were not the happiest of people to share a table with and seemed put out that I appeared,, the staff all looked like they wanted to be anywhere else but there, no smiles anywhere, the soup however was fresh and delicious, the coffee is good too, worth waiting, whilst waiting I did notice that the floor especially needed a good scrub, I know a lot of walkers etc , probably come in but this was under the tables, table legs etc., I worked in the food industry and I know bad cleaning when I see it , , the shop fresh stock was disappointing hardly any meat, I would have bought cheese but there was no one at the counter and only 1 staff member at the till , I did get some frozen meals, which are very good value and delicious, I will return for certain organic items, but overall I was disappointed the atmosphere just didn't feel right somehow

Its a small friendly place with good food and an excellent farm shop. As well as the seating indoors, there is pleasant outdoor seating and good parking. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for lunch on the way to Teesdale Alpacas nearby. The shop looked amazing but sadly we didn't have time to look around it but the food was lovely. We had a sandwich, but with it got a generous portion of salad and crisps. They also make their own pizzas which looked beautiful. Speaking to someone later, he confirmed the pizzas are gorgeous. Definitely on my list when I return to Barnard Castle area. You can't miss this place, it has a grass roof with sheep grazing on it.

Called in here after a camping trip nearby & reading the reviews. I'm not sure if they were having an off day but the bacon sandwiches we had didnt look or taste like bacon! If that's organic, give me normal anyday. I wanted an egg with mine but told they weren't doing eggs, not sure why. My cappuccino was ok but my husband's flar white was so bitter he couldn't drink it. We left most of it. The resteraunt wasn't open so had to sit outside, luckily it was fine. Looks like it's being refurbished. Be warned the toilet is unisex & is basically a hole in the floor with a urinal in too. It smelt & I decided against it! I gave 3 stars because we got a piece of beef from the shop for Sunday lunch which was nice. We wont be calling again if up that way.

I have been visiting Cross Lanes for years. I live locally and have called in from time to time for coffee or brunch or to pick up a few things from the shop, I've been to their special events and Bonfire Night festivities and I have to say - it just gets better and better. The food is delicious, the staff are lovely and they have been incredible during lockdown, offering ready to collect shopping orders and ready made Sunday roasts. We stopped by for takeaway pizza last week and we all agreed it was the best pizza we'd had in years (especially the rosemary and goat's cheese mmmmmmmm). Great people, great food and just well worth it.

This is a lovely farm shop just off the A66, worth a stop to pick up some fresh goodies. They also have a seating area and do take out food.

Always get a fab breakfast here, sets you up for the day. Standard breakfast is massive so god knows what the large looks like. Bacon rashers 2 gorgeous very big and thick, egg so yellow mmmmm. Better than Mains Gill. Price very good £ 8.50
