This was a very enjoyable day for me and my partner. We hired the bikes for 4 hours and went on the ferry with them across the lake to the other side. We visited some really cute towns and pubs along the way and are planning to do it again this Easter.

I made a telephone order for two electric bike for my wife and myself for a whole days cycling around lake Windermere, this was a total cost of £70 for the two bikes. We went with this company after seeing the reviews on this site, so I thought it fitting to give a more thorough review after our experience.
Both bikes were poorly maintained in general, on my wife's bike the suspension forks were next to useless and hardly moved. The gearing was a bit hit and miss and it was a struggle to get into the lowest gear, the reason for this is purely bad maintenance. The bike I had had erratic problems with the assisted pedaling, several times it refused to work and made it a real struggle to climb hills, the seals in the shocks were worn, as there was black grease all around the stanchions. The chain and sprockets did not look like they had been cleaned in ages.
When we returned from the ride and politely mentioned about one of the bikes had an intermittent fault with the assisted pedaling, we were met with a rather unhelpful retort of "why didn't you ring me", well apart from the fact of not having a signal and not knowing exactly where we were at the times when the problem arose, the last thing we wanted was to be waiting around for someone to assist. Not once did we receive an apology from the young lady and we decided not to pursue the other problems.
I have 4 bikes at home and as an engineer I service these myself, so I have a good understanding of maintenance, ok I obviously have higher standards than this company, but I feel that their standards are pretty low. We have hired bikes from all over the world and this place has to rank as one of the worst in both maintenance and customer service.
Having said all that the scenery is absolutely fabulous, Windermere and Bowness is lovely and was well worth the visit.

Hired 4 bikes on the day - excellent service really helpful man who sorted our bikes and our two children's. Told us where the best place to go - brilliant bike ride the other side of the lake to the Castle. Amazing views - rode to the castle had a picnic then rode back !

I hired an ebike from these guys, and completed the Coast to Coast cycle route in 3 days. It was brilliant, coping with 1:4 hills, and only needing charging up at night. It made the difference between going with friends and having a great time and sitting at home wishing I was with them. I would recommend these bikes to everyone. The guys at Electric Mountain couldn't have been more helpful.

I hired an e-bike for 4hrs and it cost £25.. To me I think is a fair price, considering how much it helped me to get up that slope! I ride around windermere lake and had a really great time! I was worrying that the battery might not last..but end up it was still full when i returned the bike after 3.30 hours of ride! For a lazy person like me who depend on the battery almost all the time, I think it done an amazing job! The owner is really friendly and would explain to you in details of how to operate the bike! Overall, I'll definitely recommend people hire from here! ;) i already did that when i returned the bike, 2 young man end up hired the bike and told me it was great and powerful when they saw me half way haha

My husband and I rented the electric bikes and we tried the route recommended by the manager, which was crossing the ferry and cycling around the Lake, which was the more scenic route to get to Hill Top. We didn't know what to expect and I thought it would be a strenuous afternoon but it was honestly the highlight of our trip. The bikes were easy to use and the power of the motor made climbing hills a walk in the park. Cycling past vast green spaces and lakes and through forests and quaint villages with the wind in your hair and the crisp air on your face was magical. We stopped frequently to take photos of the beautiful countryside and stunning scenery. It was like something out of a movie! I got a puncture outside Hill Top but with the help of the manager over the phone and the tools provided, we managed to fix it and it was a part of the experience. Would highly recommend this for all visitors to the area. A great way to experience the outdoors and take in the beauty of the landscape.

I emailed ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKES from Australia to reserve two bikes and explained that my wife was short. They said that they had a bike that would suite. So I sent them a $40 AUD. When we arrived to pick up the hired bikes that were reserved for us, they did not have a bike for my wife.
And when I asked for the deposit back, they refused.
So I had to go to my bank of which I used my credit card to pay for the deposit, and my bank returned the deposit.

A very professional service, the bikes ready for collection when we arrived and in excellent condition with helmets provided. We hired electric bikes, they are amazing and quite powerful. A word of caution if you are not used to riding on busy roads stick to the cycle trials they are really fun.

After taking one of Electric Mountains top quality, well maintained bikes. I was so impressed that I ended up buying one for my daily work commute.

We rented two bikes for four hours, with a saddlebag, helmets, and a good map of the lake area. As suggested at the bike rental, we rode down to the car ferry, crossed for a pound apiece, then pedaled north along the spectacular west side of the lake, with frequent stops for picture taking. At Ambleside, we lunched and climbed to the waterfall, then caught the steamer back down the lake to Bowness and dropped off the bikes. Wonderful weather, wonderful scenery, just the right amount of exercise.
We have e-bikes at home, so we knew they would be fun here. We are in our seventies and ride only occasionally, on somewhat hilly terrain, so the modest upgrades were about right for us. The routes at spots were hard to follow, and there are a lot of gates to open, but that's part of the adventure. Around Ambleside, we had to share the road with cars, but otherwise just had to share with pedestrians and leased dogs. I would advise couples to do what we did, depending on tastes in waterfalls or shopping. No problems with the rental or bikes, and the manager (?) took pains to make sure we were well prepared, including a tire repair tube and kit, and knowledgeable before we set out. The saddlebags came in handy for storing spare clothing, water, and cameras.
