Spa day... or day in a run down, dirty, out dated, dilapidated sports centre... you decide?!
Upon arrival the reception took twenty mins to just check us in, I mean it was tediously slow for a simple arrival to a spa day situation. I queried something about treatments and was told " I have no idea what the packages include". Ok no worries then the receptionist asked us for £36 for robes and slippers, I said I thought they were included to which she said no they aren't included in packages despite in her previous breath saying she had no idea what was included. She became angry and flounced off! Another reception staff gave us the towels and explained the lay out. Any this is most definitely not a spa day experience. The pool side is old and dirty, the steam room stank and not of menthol and the feel of the place was old and rundown. It's in dire need of refurbishment and some training for staff. There was no spa element to this. It was simply a quick cold swim, no steam room to use, sauna ok but bench broken, jacuzzi old and cold and tired.
Cafe was ok but nothing special at all. The treatments were ok and the girl who did them was nice.
Please don't book this expecting a spa experience. It's definitely not. I really do believe a local authority facility would be cleaner, better maintained and more welcoming.. oh and a fraction of the cost!

We used £100 worth of red letter day vouchers for a spa day for 2.
Upon arrival the reception looked like a sports centre so we asked if we were in the right place and should have known from that point! An extra £16 for dirty towels/robes (in single use plastic), the receptionist was unfriendly until the scripted tour of the facilities (reclamation room, a cafe and the pool).
The experience was nothing at all like a spa. There was a cold pool with children’s swimming lessons taking place, unruly kids with their parents (literally spitting water at each other in the pool) and the cafe was freezing, it felt like being in a robe at a truckers cafe! The whole time we were there the jacuzzi was full, there was 3 or 4 beds that were also full and surprisingly we didn’t fancy a relaxing sit down on a chair, next to parents watching their weekly swimming lessons, in the freezing cold.
The shock and dread of each person walking down the stairs from the changing room in their robes, to be greeted by essentially a small leisure centre, was sad and painful to watch. How they get away with this I do not know?!
The treatment was great (a facial each) but I would not recommend the spa facilities, just go to your local leisure centre or sit in a towel at your local cafe. Absolutely rip off.

We booked spa wine and stay in hotel , it was my daughters birthday got there spa treatment was at 10 am so we arrived early we had our robes and bathers spa was great thanks to nyome n Ava so gud at wot they do really lovely people a credit to Bannatynes went into the pool n sauna n steam room also went in jacuzzi, we went for our lunch it was a burger n chips then a couple of glasses of wine to finish thank you keep up all your gud work .my husband picked us up and made our way to the hotel check in was ok went to our room it was a family room but ok had a rest then got ready for our dinner which was booked for 730 pm but went into the bar for a pre drink unfortunately this bloke came over to us he was drunk and the moment he took his jumper off the barman called security he was quickly showed out it scared my daughter she’s got mental health so was on edge all nite it was a shame the restaurant meal was great you get a two course and bottle of wine all in we paid for the sweet which was 10 pound for two we hadn’t finished our wine so took that in the bar to finish off we had a gud time .next morning breakfast was nice too thanks to everyone we checked out at 9 30 am we had a fab time thanks x

We’re do I start it was abysmal, not a relaxing spa experience at all? Cold swimming pool, kids running around,overcrowded jacuzzi,steam room &sauna, not enough beds around the pool, no water in the relaxation room beds were too hard too! Duncan Bannatyne needs to spend some money on refurbishing the place, well outdated! Went in the cafe food was mediocre, Heinz tomato soup, and the menus were out of date with the prices? Didn’t match the till ones, there was no manager in to complain to so it was just ignored! The best thing was the elemis treatments the girls were wonderful & very good at their jobs felt very relaxed after them..well done girls! Our biggest mistake was not reading the reviews before we went lesson learned…have been to many spas and this was the worst ever! Will not be back!

Bit of a mixed review. We ate breakfast in the cafe here as we had stayed in the hotel, however the spa services themselves were brilliant.
Service in the cafe is absolutely appalling. We went on a Saturday morning and there was one woman serving who was rude, slow and unfriendly, and there was one cook in the kitchen. We waited 3/4 of an hour for our breakfasts only for them to turn up cold and incorrect. My Mam is gluten free and they questioned her and made her feel like an inconvenience. Staff were incredibly unfriendly.
The spa itself though was lovely! The changing rooms need modernised/fixed up, with broken locks etc. The spa treatments we received were fab. Treatment room we were in was clean, well presented and the girls were fabulous. The jacuzzi was warm and there's a sauna and steam room in there which were both incredibly hot, however the pool itself was freezing cold! Definitely needs to be heated!

Visited with 2 friends on Saturday for the special spa package - we had a great day but several issues.
Positives-
• Staff were all lovely and helpful
• Spa treatments were lovely and the spa area was modern & relaxing.
Negatives -
• Pool decor gives 1990s council pool vibes. Dreadful decor, freezing cold water and not 1 bit relaxing.
• Doing kids swimming lessons at same time as offering a 'relaxing spa package' makes zero sense.
• Cafe was understaffed. Waited over 20 minutes at counter to be served. The pool lass had to serve and be waiter. Many people left.
• No water for after spa treatments or in relaxation room.
In all we had a great time but that was down to spa treatments and company. The food experience & pool means we wouldn't return.

I booked with this company as a Christmas present on 28/11/2022
I never received the voucher code to book
They have taken payment for this
I have tried contacting customer service on numerous occasions to no avail
There website is under construction you and you cannot speak to anyone
I find this appalling that such a large company cannot deal with there customers personally

I didnt want to write this review but after contacting customer service two weeks ago, i still havent had a response, so I'm hoping somebody sees this.
My friend and I had a gift voucher for a spa day at bannatyne spa and decided to book the Durham spa and also a night's stay at the hotel to make our trip longer.
We were very excited when we set off but one hour into our journey we received a phone call to say the pool was closed and were asked if we still wanted to come. As we were almost there and had also booked the hotel we decided to still go, rather than turn back.
The spa facilities were extremely busy and not relaxing at all. We left the spa early as it was so busy and there was simply not enough room for the amount of customers using the spa.
We were offered a free hot drink in compensation for the pool being closed. However, as I have a milk intolerance and they could not guarantee that the coffee machine they use wouldn't put milk into my drink, I couldn't get a drink. They couldn't offer me any alternative milks (e.g. soya / oat) which was very disappointing and something to note if you have an intolerance / allergy.
We then went to the hotel and when we checked into our room we found it had a stained carpet, we had no hand soap and we also found black hairs in our bed.
This definitely wasn't the 30th birthday celebration we were looking forward to and I wouldn't recommend booking the spa / hotel if you're looking to relax.

refused to let me test out the facilities for a month to see if my shift work would be compatible. Even though I was told that I could leave after three months at any time, I decided to stick it out for the full three months. I informed them after two months that I would not be renewing because it was not going to work for me. The receptionist promised to put the account on hold in case I changed my mind. I stopped the direct debit and carried on with my life. until a bill for unpaid direct debits arrived. I called and emailed again to double-check this because there must have been a typo. They advised me to email someone to let them know I had cancelled. I hadn't done this; in fact, when I had spoken to the receptionist, she had never once suggested that I email head office. When I took the three months out, it was not mentioned. I paid for four months even though I only used it for two because I was told "I can leave whenever I like. That left me with a bad aftertaste. I feel like I've been defrauded as a customer. I will not return to any Bannatynes-owned businesses.

spa day would have been better going to our local swimming baths and cheaper and cleaner. The staff you can not fault but the facilities are not for a spa day I paid £168 for 3 of us we got a few mini treatments which was great and girls are nice. But the pool area and jacuzzi was shocking. The pool area definitely need updating like most of the building. On arrival I was charged £8 each for a shabby bath robe for each of us plus a £30 deposit for theme sorry like I wouldn’t give my dog it to dry on. Very disappointing experience won’t return.
