I visited Harry’s Bar today as I had heard there was a new manager there. As soon as I walked in I could smell the cleaning products, unlike the last time I went there before the new manager had taken over. I ordered my drink, my glass was sparkly clean and it was a cracking pint aswell. The bar staff were very friendly and made me feel very welcome, the new manager Claire is also lovely! It’s got a bad reputation but I don’t know why because all the customers were all so nice and friendly. I will definitely be returning and would recommend it to anybody who hasn’t already been in yet!

Go here if we have been shopping for a relaxing drink. I just love it in here. So many different characters all with time for you to chat about everything. Really good atmosphere

Very popular with the locals when we called in. Good choice of beers, sky sports, friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

Popped in here for a quick drink on Saturday afternoon.
Friendly staff, lively bar that served good beer. Sport on TVs. Good town bar.

Impressive exterior of what was a hotel.
Grade II listed.
Nice interior. A real fire on a cold wet day was nice, but no seats available near it.
Unfortunately the real ale ( I can't remember what it was) was poor and barely drinkable.
Advertises itself as a sports bar, so perhaps not the place to visit for good ale.

As a regular drinker in Wigan I was surprised to find that Harry's bar had received cask marque accreditation . As it's never been really associated with quality ales. We then found out it had been taken over by the usually excellent 'fifteens' chain so decided to visit. We ordered 'D-day dodger' from the local Martland Mill brewery which we had thoroughly enjoyed in another pub minutes earlier. The drink we were served was flat, sour, smelled terrible and was clearly off. These things happen with real ale on occasion so we politely asked the very nice barman if we could change it for something different as it had gone off, he advised he'd have to ask the manager. A man came from elsewhere and with immediate aggression stated he was the manager and the drink was fine ( he hadn't smelled, tasted or even looked at the drink) my husband then politely suggested that he have a taste so he could see what he meant. The man then shouted there's nothing wrong with it and stormed off and did not return. We were left feeling shocked and humiliated and of course out of pocket. Luckily the beer was so bad there was no chance we would have drunk it then got sick, one sip was truly revolting. We will never set foot in the place again. There should be a no star option.
