Just spent a completely absorbing 2 days learning about working with silver. Julian is the most patient, helpful tutor who can solve any questions you throw at him. Tracy makes you feel like you have known her for forever and is so welcoming. The studio space is beautiful surrounded by wonderful views not to mention a few cheeky alpacas! Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place!! Amazing, friendly and talented people, great instruction and guidance when creating your projects (with alot of patience!), a beautiful setting and really truly lovely environment to spend some time being creative, thoroughly enjoyed myself, I'll definitely be back!

This was the first time making glass beads, Tracey is a great teacher, making everyone attending the course welcome , giving Heath and safety advice , but not to much .studio well arranged plenty of space , complying to Covid regulations.
Tracey has lots of experience making making beads, So has lots of ideas to make interesting beads . Lots of different colours of glass.
Super happy with the beads I made.
Great course would very happily do it again,
This course was a Christmas present.
I have some different courses already .

My fourth course at The Old Kennels and once again top marks. i love the setting and the layout. The course is so well thought through and again the tutors are high quality. Had lots of fun learning to forge in just two days and came out with 2 great cheese knives. I have already booked my next course to work in wood this time and have still the excitement for my Whitby Jet course in November. I cannot recommend The Old Kennels enough.

I am tremendously lucky to have generous friends who gifted me a course at The old kennels. It turned out to be one of the best presents I've ever had!
Tracey is a gracious and engaged host who offers these courses at her beautiful and wonderfully located farm in the Blackdown Hills. The venue is easy to find and parking plentiful, the welcome warm, and the teachers the best at their craft in the country.
I joined a pewter-box making course presented by a Manchester-based pewter artist, Ella McIntosh. A natural teacher, Ella was patient, certainly able to accommodate my off-piste ideas and always ready to lend a helping hand as one was getting to grips with something new and wholly outside your skillset. I got to make a box with cast and rolled elements that I adore!
Many of my classmates have done a number of the Old Kennels courses and it's easy to see why they return, I certainly will.
Highly recommended. 10/10

My Fiance and I really enjoyed the two day course working with silver. We worked at a nice relaxed pace with expert help on hand whenever it was needed! The tutor was a lovely chap. We both made a ring and a couple of pendants too.
We had lunch in the garden with the spring sunshine and there was very nice coffee on tap too, what more do you need?!
Tracey the host was brilliant and very helpful, we even bought a few roses from her little lads flower stall.
When we finally have some time to ourselves again we will be looking to book to do something again for sure.

Great venue, great hosts, and I learnt how to make cold pressed soap a bonus. My soap looks amaizing thanks to the skills of Isobel the intructress.

I had a lovely two days sitting and learning to draw maps with Jim, it was fun and absorbing and fascinating to see some of the maps he's worked on, Tracey made wonderful lunches, a really enjoyable couple of days!

Another wonderful time learning new things in the most inspiring environment with wonderful Tracey. Whatever you choose to learn, the place is so relaxing and thought provoking that its always a memorable experience at The Old Kennels!

I am just back from a really satisfying two day silver course - my first visit to the Old Kennels. The setting is as good as other people have said with views across the steep valley full of beautiful Autumn colours at the moment. Tracey was a brilliant host and the food and company were perfect. I set out to make a ring and matching earrings which I achieved - with a great deal of encouragement and expert advice (and a LOT of help ) from Julian Livingstone - a superb tutor!
I hope to return to try another craft next year!
