Should have been great, wasn’t.
The technology wasn’t working, the building was ‘baltic’ and the guide, whose voice was at best muffled, admittedly nothing could be done due to Covid, delivered her lines in a monotone fashion with no intonation as if she did this six times a day… which she said she did.
This should be a highlight for visitors wishing to know about one of the most important events in Scottish history … just walk the battlefield and see the monument, forget this bit.
They really need to get their act together

This was one of my favorites. The guided tour part of the visit is a detailed and flamboyant talk about the reasons for the battle, the choices of ground and how they affected the outcome, strategies, weapons and more. The tour rooms were surround-video and audio and really entertaining as well as informative. After the one-hour tour was unlimited time to wander the grounds. The larger-than-life statue of King Robert Bruce is amazing and impressive and perfect. The battlefield is explained in good signage. There’s a central memorial with a poem engraved that I really loved, and recorded for myself and for my Instagram. “Here lies our land, every airt, beneath swift clouds, glad glints of sun, belonging to none but itself. We are mere transients, who sing its westlin winds and ferny braes, northern lights and siller tides; small folk playing our part. “Come all ye,” the country says, “you win me, who take me most to heart.”” Wonderful.

I am sure this attraction merited it’s 5 star review when it opened in 2014 but the graphics are now woefully dated. National Trust for Scotland need to update the technology for current visitors. On a positive note the guide was very knowledgeable However the door to which we were directed to leave the building and access the battefiled, which was also a fire exit, was locked.

I am not a battlefield person, but my husband loves them, however following the visit to the Bannockburn centre I am a changed person. The whole experience was great. On arrival we were greeted and clearly informed of the process. We had time to visit the exhibition outside which explained events over periods of time. We then walked to the rotunda . This is an easy walk and there is access for wheelchairs. The music playing provided additional atmosphere to this historical site. Encircling the top of the rotunda is a poem by Kathleen Jamie. I won't spoil the experience for other people but the words are beautiful and emotive.
We then experienced the battle of Bannockburn through audio, visual aids, further enhanced by the skilled storyteller and our guide. As English Heritage members were had free access. Thank you for giving me a lovely memory.

We really enjoyed our visit! The interactive tour was great with huge animated screens that made the whole experience come alive.
The cafe and food was excellent and the toilets were clean and modern.
The walk up to the statue of Robert the Bruce was easy and pleasant with good information boards.
Car parking was easy and free.
Definitely worth a visit.

The outside tour was brilliant. The guide has a command of the history and is a great orator. You get a real feel of the battle and are engaged throughout the hour.
Lovely monument and views

The cafe, shop and grounds are all lovely, but I was disappointed with the indoor experience.

For a family of 4 it was £20, which seemed ok - but it really wasn’t that suitable for our 2 boys age 7 and 10.

The tour was 1 hour long…way too long and hot. The guide was hard to understand and not particularly pleasant. Quite abrupt manner and no rapport with the audience overall, never mind the kids.

My 10 year old had been really excited about it but was quite disappointed. Far too technical and although the main battle area was good, that was about all. I wouldn’t rush back or particularly recommend it.

We came here on the way home from Stirling and were not dissapointed. The guide was excellent and very knowledgable and particularly enthusiastic. It provided a great overview of the battle from both and English and Scottish perspective. The presentations/animations were interestesting and well compiled.

Just visited for breakfast and was told that they do not now do a vegetarian breakfast. Apparently they had to reduce the menu items, the menu I was showed was really poor for a vegetarian. In this day and age with more and more vegetarians/vegans I can't really believe that they have done this. There were probably more vegetarian options in 1314. I will not be back until this changes.

Visitor center, free parking, toilets, cafe etc. There is a visitor experience you need to book. The outside area is free for you to wander around!
