We were sad that we were unable to board and tour this ship, it looks very neglected which is a shame because thetest of the museum is really interesting.

Unfortunately this old girl is currently closed. We were disappointed as we are from Hull where the Wingfield Castle used to be a ferry across the River Humber before the Humber Bridge was built. We were looking forward to seeing a bit of our ‘local’ history. The boat is in a very sad and neglected state currently. Apparently it is owned by the council who are trying to obtain funding in order to renovate the vessel. I am sure that one day it will be back to it’s original state and will become a great addition to the RN museum.
The museum is still well worth a visit however and there is a lovely model of the Wingfield Castle inside.

It's a quick visit but its a cool place to see, art exhibitions have been held there which has been interesting. It' a nice place to take your family!

We came to the museum here on the quay and wanted to treat our grandchildren to a look around and something from the cafe, but to our surprise it is no longer open which is a shame, it also looks very neglected and dirty, Hartlepool council or whoever owns this old steam ship should either refurbish it and make it operational again as a visitor attraction, or remove it before it becomes even more of an eyesore. It does nothing for the rest of the wonderful things to see here at the quay.

The Wingfield Castle is neglected and smelly, it has changed since the first time I visited. I brought relatives to visit and we had to hold our noses as the smell was horrendous, needs some TLC

Looking at this old ship from the outside I would never have considered it for a lunch as its run down. We decided to have a look around as it was free. Some parts closed off due to weather. Then we had a look at the cafe which was like walking into a different bit completely. It was a complete contrast to the dirty, run down, rusty old ship. All done up, clean and lovely for a lunch.
Plenty of choice from soup to sandwiches, toasties, paninis, cakes etc. Not the fastest as the girl was on herself but thoroughly enjoyed it.

This old paddle steamer is well worth a visit. It’s a free attraction on the Histotic Quay in Hartlepool. You are able to wander around freely and you can see the engine room. There is also a cafe on board. A good piece of history and children love it!

Ready for a drink and a snack during our visit to the RN museum. Unable to get on the upper deck due to weather damage, but had a look round inside. The engines, boilers and stoke hold are visible through large panels. The cafe is excellent. A good choice of sandwiches, snacks ansd drinks at very reasonable prices. The sandwiches, made to order, came with a good salad garnish and the coffee was spot on All run by a friendly and efficient team of ladies. Well worth a visit and good value.

This place is kind of a cool spot. But the ship looks very old and rusted. Hard to get into it as a ship when the Trincomalee is right there. But this ship is free to board which is a plus. The cafe is nice, but the food is so so. I've had a hot dog there which came out of a tin. I had a sausage roll which was good, but nothing special. Prices are fair. Worth a visit if it Hartlepool and you are looking for something to do. But definitely other places worth visiting before this.

Neglected and unloved she rots away in her last resting place but hopefully she will be restored to health and some vitality soon. The only life left in her is the cafe in the main salon. The engines that brought her to life as a Humber Ferry are derelict and rusty and it is likely that this heart will never beat again. Heres hoping for some restoration to at least have access to the bridge and upper and lower decks.

is it accessible for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility?

You can only access the main floor in a wheelchair, this has the cafe, the engine room and a deck. There is an accessible toilet. To get to the upper deck there are stairs, the lower deck does have lift access but the two rooms are used for school groups and childrens parties and not open to the public.
