I usually avoid the town center when its Treacle day but had to pass through last time it was on.
Its incredible how may people come to this and seem to enjoy getting ripped off.
This is supposed to be for local producers yet increasingly many vendors are from further and further out of town.
People also use it as an excuse to walk their dogs through the crowds, causing ciaos with wandering leads etc.
If you really want to buy any food, be prepared for a long wait in the cue followed by a long wait for food.
Everything at this event is overpriced, its just not worth it.
Very limited seating and very limited waste bins.
I know many local business enjoy Treacle day because it brings in extra custom for them and I'm pleased for them but this event is not for me.

A nice experience to wander around Macclesfield centre, get a bite to eat and browse the stalls! Worth a visit

First time at the market but definitely will be returning. Such fabulous stalls to mooch round and very happy with my purchases while supporting independent small businesses.

My friend and I went on a day coach trip to the market, really enjoyed it except for one thing, no treacle toffee anywhere! one disappointed hubby! Seems it is named after a local tale. Great mixture of stalls and we loved the cobbled streets! Oh, bought treacle toffee in our local Home Bargains the next day!

An excellent market with all sorts of interesting foodstuffs and items, not just local but from across the world.Great atmosphere with very friendly traders. Some people may argue it should just be local traders but the market brings business to the town, and that's a good thing. Let's face it, you just can't please some people!

I was here with a friend yesterday, amidst some of the first snow of the season. It certainly made it feel festive! We have previously been to the artisan market in Wilmslow so had a reasonable idea what to expect but this was on a far bigger scale and there was a great range of stalls to peruse, including crafts, food and drink.

We visited Treacle Market last month and were really impressed with the variety of stalls. It is only once a month and the local resident complaining that it was not benefiting the town has missed the point that these traders are independents. His comment seems to imply he would rather support the big stores like B&M, Iceland etc.

This is definitely one of the best outdoor markets in the UK. The stalls are varied and include crafts, artwork, interesting vintage, upcycled goods, plants and lots of food stalls. The buskers contributed to the great atmosphere. I had a very enjoyable time and will definitely plan my visits to my daughter-in-law to coincide with the market from now on!

A huge, busy, once monthly market around Macclsfield town centre. Held on the last sunday of the month, theres loads of food stores (some pretty exotic), local produce & crafts, clothes, bric a brac etc.Its very easy to spend a lot of time & money here!

Haven't been to Macclesfield for years but visited it on Treacle Market day (last Sunday of the month) with friends and was not disappointed. Although the weather was horrible it did not dampen our day. Loved the large variety of stalls and was impressed with the town (far better than I remember). Get there fairly early as it got busy about 11.00am, despite the weather. Went to Weatherspoons for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised with the interior which, sorry, is superior than most Weatherspoons. I think Macclesfield will be a regular last Sunday of the month trip.

Hi. It's only open on the last Sunday of the month, with the exception being December when the date changes (presumably to coincide with Xmas). I think it opens around 10am. It does get very busy, especially when the weather is good.

I am disabled and use a scooter to get around. My worry is that I won't be able to get anywhere near the stalls if it's as busy as reported.
