What a great tour , we had the lovely Gemma who was amazing and so funny too she made the tour much more fun, if you go just park at sainsbury’s and it’s a short walk to the prison. I would definitely recommend the guided tour as it’s so informative. We learnt loads about old sayings that we still use today. Thank you so much Gemma you was fabulous xxx

We found it great value for a couple of hours entertainment. Staff friendly and informative however car parking can be a problem. Don’t park in Sainsbury’s as parking is limited to 90 mins despite what the web site says. We found nearby free parking in the camel trail car park about 5 or 6 mins walk . We didn’t take the guided tour but went on our own however we did bump into the guided tour and the guide was giving so much information it felt like information overload to us , so we were happy to continue on our own. During the tour there's a lot of information for your perusal , about 2 hours is required for this visit . Check out discount sites and availability.

Efficient staff.
Simple ticket booking.
Very clever and modern effects.
Imaginative with sights sounds and smells.
Nice cafe.
Staff very friendly.
CONS
A bit overpriced for a fairly short experience.
Felt a little TWO produced with not a huge amount of real exhibits.
No access to the main jail wings as this is now a hotel. You only really get to see in a few basement cells after the immersive walkthrough. Walking along a real wing would have been great.

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but the shows were great, and the displays werevery interesting. What elevated this to a great experience was the guided tour which I highly recommend. Caroline was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable and told the story of the prison fantastically well.

Had a wonderful heritage tour with our guide Gemma. She was very knowledgable and the visual effects and the way the tour is set out was just great. Entertained a group of us from 8 to 68 without being scary. Full of fascinating information. Loved this experience!

I knew this was interactive experience but was hoping to see some of the Bodmin original jail, whole experience is based on a few hundred years ago and don’t actually see any of the jail, I am guessing as turned into hotel next door

So for starters, parking no problem at all. Set your sat nav for Sainsburys park there and literally a 4 minute walk to the Jail. Don’t be a hero and try and park on the side streets as you’ll just annoy the residents and give the attraction a bad name.
Booked the self guided tour, and arrived 10 minutes early as advised. Greeted by friendly staff and guided to the start of the tour.
The video tour through the various sections set the mood as well as some history of the area with great visual affects and a story of some of the prisoners. This then rolled into the walking self guided tour of the cells. This was really interesting and although a complete sceptic on all things paranormal I felt a feeling of depression and sadness come over me on entering a couple of the cells. There was a guided tour group ongoing at the same time however this didn’t affect us in the slightest.
Overall an incredibly interesting and immersive experience and well worth the money. I may even return for a guided night walk as I feel I need to experience more of Bodmin jail.

We had a brilliant visit to Bodmin jail. I was looking for somewhere to take my teenage boys and they loved it. We payed a bit extra for the guided tour but it was definitely worth it! Our guide Bex was amazing, so knowledgeable and interesting.

Im sorry i dont know as we did a day tour. Calling Bodmin Jail would be your best bet, they are great at details like yours.

Hi, going in a few weeks as staying at the hotel for a night. Trying to decide between the 90 min Ghost Walk starting at 6.30pm or going the whole hog and doing the Ghost Hunting. Are they very similar? Very different? Wondering what to plump for or do we need to do both? Thank you for any advice.

I can’t really answer as we haven’t done either the ghost walk or the ghost hunting- but we did the paranormal tour and it was amazing! Proper scary and in total darkness. Would recommend it but I’m sure you’ll enjoy whichever one you decide 👻

the interactive part will be fine for them. however the jail part wont last more then 10 mins and is rather boring for the kids. might be best to go down the road (so to speak) and spend the money on Pencarrow. bodmin jail is a lot of money v time spent

After reading some of the comments it seems that the owners are losing out on a lot of returning customers due to the lack of signage etc.
I would suggest that they get someone who hasn't been before to look around and give a honest opinion. This includes price , signage, displays, restaurant and the staff.

Plenty of first time visitors have left very negative reviews. Owners need to strip it back and return it to its original state.

Take the train from Newquay to Par.
Get a London bound from train from Par to Bodmin Parkway where you NEED A TAXI . (you can either pre-book or gamble on one being available......I would advise booking it)
Tip: allow 2-3 hours (min) for reasonable viewing time of jail.
