Lovely beach, we went in November so didn’t get to see much of the sea as it was low tide while we were at the beach and we would have had to go through the mud to get to it, which there are plenty of signs warning you not to do! But it was clean and plenty of sand to walk along and for the children to play in. There were lots of dogs off lead at this time of year but the owners mostly kept them away from me and the children. There were some that didn’t seem to have brilliant control over them, this didn’t bother us as we are used to dogs, however it’s something to bear in mind especially if you have children who are weary of dogs! We didn’t see any dog poo though. We always managed to find a space in The Sovereign shopping centre which was reasonably priced. We would definitely return even out of season as there was still plenty to occupy yourselves with.

A long clean beach miles long with plenty of sand, interesting poems in shelters along the front towards the mini pier. Sea goes out very far. Lovely long wide promenade for runners, walkers and kids scooters etc. nice walk along the promenade with lots of room.

Loved the Pier thought it was magnificent and the shopping pretty good as well. I won’t be coming back though because the local Council are fleecing drivers for making honest mistakes and their signage is poor and designed for you to get caught out and there are some new bus lanes in operation!

Weston Super Mare has often been described as a dump with a sea view, and from my experience yesterday following an absence of 30 years, nothing has changed much , except there is now the burned out crumbling remains of the abandoned old pier left to photograph. Its so desperately sad to see remnants of once gracious Victorian and Georgian buildings boarded up, covered in graffiti, and simply neglected nestled alongside the cheap beach trinket tat shops and fish and chips outlets galore, that now encompass this forlorn facade of lost memories of much happier times. Weston town itself has become a sad, featureless, cheap and tacky environment, and a bleak remnant of a once thriving popular English beach resort.

Visited WSM for a few hours out with my partner on Tuesday 17th October 2023.
When we arrived we parked on the Seafront in the bays opposite the beach. When we went to the pay machine we had two options:
Pay by coins which we didn't have enough of or go on an app and pay using the phone.
After some deliberation we decided that £6 for 4 hours wasn't necessary as we weren't go to be there that long.
We moved the car to the other side of the green where the parking was cheaper - £3 for 2 hours by the kerbside which was more than adequate for our requirements.
Only this time it was an app only payment using the phone. Well, what a polava! My partner went through the long process only to find at the end that she needed authorisation from the bank, which she did. But there was no confirmation message from the parking app to say that we were legally parked. So we repeated the whole process ( 3 times) just to get the same outcome.
After doing this for about 20 minutes or more we decided to move the car to try and find another proper car park. But by this time we'd both lost the will to live and went to Clevedon Seafront instead.
Please can someone from North Somerset Council please explain to me why there are no parking machines on the Seafront where you just can't insert or tap your payment card and recieve a ticket for your windscreen in return.
A large majority of visitors (I guess) are of an older generation and do not need the hassle of having to pay for everything via an app. Technology installed where it's not required imo... we only wanted a walk, bag of chips and an ice cream but because paying for parking became so difficult we left without doing anything in Weston.
This experience has put us off visiting WSM again any time soon.

If your disabled from another country, we found out that the wsm council have a who cares attitude

While parking in Carlton street car park on a recent visit from Australia to see family, we were given a parking ticket as we had not displayed a valid disabled badge. Our Australian disabled badge was clearly displayed (see photo). We had confirmed with parking inspectors that it was valid in a previous visit.

First time in 50 years in the Weston Super Mare area, Went for a walk on the beach for a reminisce, Beach was still the same with the tide well out making for an easy walk down to The Grand Pier with my wife and our dog which we could safely let off his lead, normally he’d be a scaredy cat and would stay still but here he was happy to walk along with us with the occasional little foray. Had an excellent Fish and chips meal on the beach as the weather was mild and warm.
We spoke to a Lady from Bristol, she was mentioning about lack of seating and no stalls open on the beach. On making my any up to the promenade to dispose of our rubbish I observed that she was right about seating from The Grand Pier up towards the South beach direction, there was no seating for it’s entire length until you almost reached the South Beach car park where two seating benches made out of stone where available, very decorative, very contemporary but I would imagine anyone with mobility issues or of advancing years finding these very cold and uninviting to sit on.
Weston is a Seaside Town so where are the old style wooden slat bench seats for our elderly or infirm folk to sit down and look out to sea from the promenade with ice cream in hand. Seems a big catchment of our older members are being overlooked purely for no other than the reason of being looked upon by planners as ‘Old Fashioned’.
With many of the older generation visiting Weston for many years even ‘Out of Season’ it appears to me that a Golden Opportunity is being missed here through lack of appropriate seating on the promenade whereby revenue could be made by the old ‘Stop Me and Buy One’ Ice Cream tricycles plying up and down. May be old fashioned but even in this day and age it would still work well in appropriate conditions which on this day were spot on.
I will visit Weston again for sure as it still has a certain lure for me, just a few adjustments to be considered next time.

We visited Weston during our recent Indian summer. The parking is £6 for 6 hours which is excellent. The beach is lovely & the promenade is very clean. There are a lot of Fish & chip shacks along the way, but if you want something else there is also a number of beach front restaurant/bars (looked very mediterranian) The pier was rebuilt after a fire in 2010 & costs £1 to enter. At the far end is Knightstone cawsway. Stones cafe is really good & well organised. Food we had was excellent.

Hi, I've had a look and on their websites, and also the Grand Pier website. All of them say "temporarily closed - we open on 17th May".

Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a high tide at this beach most of the day? I want to take my autistic 9 year old brother and he loves water so it is the main reason why we want to go. Thanks

On Sunday I saw people paddle boarding and kayaking on the beach (the bit further down that is separated from the main sea by the wooden walkway) does anyone know any details about the company who was hiring them out? I've searched online buy can't find anything online for this?

As a local resident we do appear to have a ban on beach barbecues on multiple grounds including child safety, crowded beach and the swooping seagulls.
Hi. I have heard that the sea has been deemed poor quality and should avoid going into the sea by Uphill. Is this right?
