We visited Rhos-on-Sea and were a bit underwhelmed, it didn't help that there is lots of building work going on. There is a sandy beach and the small town has some shops / cafes, however, there are other more interesting places to visit locally,

We went to rhos on sea as we met there 45 years ago, we were slighgtly dissapointed as they are doing major works on the beach and flood defenses, but the place was still the same. The pub (the cayley arms) was closed down, a sign of the times

The beach with all the recent improvements is superb. Easily up there as one of the best in North Wales for families. Full marks to Conwy Council for its cleanliness and all the hard work. Looking forward to the completion of the promenade works this year making it a beautiful walk along the sea front.

Rhos on Sea a great place to be it’s so Central to all of North Wales for the coast and to go inland too However the beach at Rhos could do with a tidy up .

A previous reviewer was complaining about the beach becoming a building site! If he/she/it had bothered to read the information boards sited around the beach, they would have read that it was part of a vast beach improvement project. When completed, Rhos should have a nice large "sandy" beach". Only time will tell!

The beach stank of sewage/drains and the mud was horrible as the tide went out. Very disappointing. We had to leave as the smell was sickening.

This beach had many families enjoying themselves as we walked along it. The sea here is calmer with it being behind the harbour breakwater.
I see that the works going on at the moment are bringing more sand to build up the beach further along so it'll be good once it's finished.

Had fish n chips from the brilliant galleon chip shop and sat on the seating area opposite the caley pub, we were there for around an hour and counted 27 rats mostly baby's with a few larger adults.

Conwy council decided to wait for 2 years untill covid restrictions lifted before trashing the prom and the beach. Yea, we hate tourists round here. Confrontational walk now offered on prom; best to walk west towards little orme. Forget about the beach, building site now. Another huge stash of council cash wasted, very few locals wanted this.

Hi!
Planning to spend new year in Conwy in a holiday apartment. We are taking the dog and was just wondering if the beach is dog friendly that time of year and if the dog will be welcome in various places?

The previous answer is spot on.
You might also consider going to Bryn Euryn in Rhos on Sea which is a very popular dog walking area of woods and fields with lovely views too. You can just follow the trails around or go right to the top from where you get a 360 view over to the Snowdonia range and Conwy, views of the sea to Anglesey and back up the coast towards Liverpool. There is a triangulation point at the top.
It’s located a short distance behind Hickory’s restaurant in Rhos and has ample parking.

Hi all,
Planning our first visit to Conwy late August and doing all the requisite research :). I was wondering do they supply/ can you buy crabbing gear on the pier?
We don't drive so limited in what we can take with us.

There is a fishing and crabbing shop about 25yards from the beach ,but if you can pick it up beforehand it would be advisable as the shop is expensive;bait is cheap though.

yes at high tide the water reaches the sea wall .We just dropped our line in over the wall and caught half a dozen

You have a cafe called ninos along the front on rhos which is lovely. But a hidden gem for cheaper but delicious food is red 16. Which is just opposite the spar in the centre of rhos. Do lovely brekkies.
