Regular visitor here. Great choice of beers. It is a traditional pub, not mega on cocktails or shots. The beer is amongst the best managed in the area, truly superb. Given all the new houses recently built near the pub I do hope they resurrect the kitchen and do food.

Popped in for a Christmas Day pint with the dog. Superb beer selection and great atmosphere in this cosy 2 room pub. Only went for 1 but had 5 as the beer was sooo good.

Great little locals pub. Our blues band was invited to play there recently and it was fantastic. Very friendly bar staff. Sponsors a lot of musical events and much more. A super choice of real ales. If you’re ever in the area be sure to drop in.

I visit the "Hop Pole" every Wednesday to meet friends and join in with the quiz. It's a good "Old" pub, there are a good selection of beers and wines. Also a selection of different flavours of Gin! There is also live entertainment at the weekends. I enjoy it there, the quizzes are great fun and the winners could take home a good cash prize.

The new Landlord of this pub is appalling, his rude arrogant manner towards his customers is out of this world. Iv never been in a pub before where not only the customers but the staff despise the man's unusual and impolite attitude. I will never set foot in this place again, as long as this manager is running the show. His employers need to take note.

Not been in the Hop Pole for over a decade and going back was a familiar trip. Pub serves a good range of drinks and real ales at a good price. Typical of older pubs in the Beeston area this pub comprises of a number of small rooms that lead to each other.
Tends to attract an older crowd and real ale types. Still a jolly good pub to visit if your in the area

I have been coming to The Hop Pole on and off for years now and it has never even come close to changing. This is a positive in my eyes because too many pubs these days have surrendered themselves meekly to the "lets fill the place with kids and microwaved meals" school of pub management.
I am reliably informed that The Hope Pole has barely changed since the early 80s (including some of the clientele) and this stands up to scrutiny, as everyone seems to know one another, though newcomers are guaranteed a warm welcome too.
They have a good selection of beers and frequently have live music on - often of a folk variety, though I have seen more mainstream stuff being played there.
The pub isn't massive, so be aware that seating in the either the bar or the lounge may prove elusive at certain times of night. The same applies to the car park, which is the very definition of miniscule, though there is parking in a car park across Chilwell High Road, but I think this is a pay and display, though probably not at night.
There is also a nicely sized beer garden out back, which is decent to sit in in the summer, and a pub quiz on a Wednesday night that is fun. There is also a darts board in the lounge area which, though good to see, is precariously close to the heads of people sat in the seats in very close proximity to it. Alcohol, close proximity to peoples heads and a set of sharp metal spikes do not make for a good mix.
Of all the pubs in Beeston, this is the one I perhaps prefer the most, though it is in close contest with The Crown. I think The Hop Pole may edge it by virtue of not being overtly political.

Great pub, friendly, very much like pubs used to be years ago, and they allow dogs. We went out impromptu and we had a great time.

Went to Hop Pole today for first time in about 10 years.
Beer still good, but shame the ladies toilets are as bad as they were when last visited. Wouldn't be a bad idea to spend a bit of money on them!
