Built at a pivotal period of Romanesque and Gothic, its architecture is imbued with both styles. The renovations of the 19th and 20th reveal a building in good condition, the spirit of the original building was preserved and even restored in the 19th: the original vault had disappeared, replaced by a wooden ceiling, the architect of the 19th century had a brick vault rebuilt supported on the stone double arches. Furthermore, I found the story of Saint-Just, patron of this church, interesting; in the 4th century, contemporary of Saint-Hilaire de Poitiers, Saint-Just was born in Puy-Parlier near Saint-Just-le-Martel. Having become a priest, he refused, out of humility, to succeed Saint-Hilaire as bishop of Poitiers and died while returning from a trip to Rome. Two legends differ on how the place for the construction of the first sanctuary was chosen, but it would be on the site of the current church that the first wooden building was erected.
