It's difficult to know where to begin, as the whole experience beginning to end was such a pleasure. That was very much as a result of our wonderful guide/owner Paco, who took us first to the slopes where their vines grow (spectacular views btw). This part of the visit really helps you to understand the complexities involved in producing Priorat wines. Then to the bodega, which by industrial standards is small, that's because it's not industrial, everything is hand done, from growing to picking to bottling. I can't recommend a visit to this Bodega enough, which is run by passionate hard working individuals, who make you feel right art home. I'll definitely be re-visiting with friends in the future. BTW, I did the tour in Spanish, so I can't vouch for the level of English provided on tours here. Thanks to Paco and the team, Gerry.

We booked the roughly 2-hour tour and tasting for 8 euros each and drove to the sleepy town of Porrera for the visit on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a little bit difficult to find parking and to find the actual winery, but didn’t take us long. We were met by Dominic and Paco and headed off to the vineyard first. Although my Spanish (and subsequently, Catalan) is poor, Dominic spoke English well enough for us to understand fairly easily, but we always feel bad that people have to cater to English speakers. Spanish lessons, here I come.
The vineyard tour was really neat, as it seemed so serene right after a little bit of morning rainfall. We walked through the cabernet and merlot vines first (20-ish years old), and then to the carignan and grenache (garnatxa in Catalan) vines which were over 100 years old on a fairly steep hillside of slate (licorella). We tried a few of the grapes along the way and also spotted some of the white varietals mixed in with the others, which is how vineyards were planted many years ago. Ask lots of questions and learn about this wonderful wine region.
After the vineyard we headed back and did a quick tour of the small processing room and went down to the small cave beneath the winery for the tasting that included some small bites (Iberian ham, bread, etc.). We tried four wines overall – the first being a nearly full-bodied white with pleasant aromas that would make an excellent food-pairing wine (~15e). The second was a cabernet, grenache, and carignan blend (~22e) and the third was a similar red with merlot rather than cabernet. The final wine was all old-vine grenache and carignan that was balanced, rounded, and had a lengthy finish along with some wonderful fruit and floral aromas (~35e). This was one of the best wines we tasted during our trip, and I regret not purchasing some due to space restrictions (note, shipping from anywhere in Spain back to the US is VERY expensive – 90e at minimum per case, but we typically saw it being over 100e, which is over 8e per bottle more).
Overall this was probably the best value for tour and tasting on our entire trip. It’s not the easiest location to get to, but the vineyard tour is peaceful and informative, and the wines are decently priced for the quality. Wish we could buy these in the US, but unfortunately, they do not export that far.

Visit to the vineyards just outside the village, and, of course, tasting of their excellent wines.
Small family buisness, producing really superb quality wines.
