This museum was extremely interesting and told the true story of Shackleton and his crew in an absorbing and enjoyable way. There was plenty to see and read. The museum also had lots of fascinating items recovered from shipwrecks. Well worth an explore!

The titanic museum in Charles town was fantastic lots of thing to see a cut back gife shop from when I last visited but was still good

Have always loved the museum, and am gutted that it is being sold off. Such a loss to Cornwall and it's heritage. Friendly staff and amazing exhibits

There was a lot to see, perhaps too much, and the signage could have been better. It is probably more geared to young people and enthusiasts.

I dont understand the positive reviews, this place is such a joke. After paying a ridiculous price we were all hoping for an amazing immersive experience that the supposed ‘award winning’ museum had to offer. This was not the case. We were all slightly bewildered by the ‘ice tunnels’ which lacked any imagination apart from a few cheap fairy lights on the walls and an attempt to make the walls look like snow with some white paint. The Shackleton story was interesting however the effort to make a coherent and a remotely engaging piece was lousy, and I just couldn’t be bothered to read all the information in the walls. There were no interactive objects apart from a slightly odd ship that moved up and down at the click of a button. And the treasures? don’t get too excited; despite calling themselves a ‘museum of treasures’ there was nothing particularly special other than a few grubby coins and some random objects that had been shoved in a closet with no reference whatsoever. this place heavily reminded me of the Glasgow wonka experience, as I felt the high expense led me feeling cheated. I’m sure Shackleton himself would be hanging his head in shame at the poor attempt to recreate his life story. Please don’t come here if you want to save your money that could easily be spent better elsewhere.

We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your visit, particularly the Shackleton Legacy Exhibition, which is being showcased in collaboration with the RGS, using the images and story provided by them.
Over the past 3 years we have had thousands of visitors to this exhibition, and we are delighted that the vast majority of these visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the telling of the story.
The ice tunnels are themed around the Shackleton story with a number scenes and audio, and the ice themed walls were actually made by a specialist group of craftsmen and women.
Again, we are disappointed that you did not enjoy the 7000+ artifacts in the museum, which are salvage from around 150 shipwrecks, and the tales these artifacts tell.

Paid £45 for a family ticket including the Shackleton experience and felt like we’d been cheated. The Shackleton experience is so tacky - a tunnel with some fairy lights. The information presented was interesting, but definitely not up to scratch. The main museum as others have commented is badly presented. Displays are far too cluttered, so trying to match up items with their descriptions is difficult. Also nothing to keep younger kids amused. Many museums we’ve been to have interactive elements, and trails with things for the kids to find etc., which ours love doing, but here, they were bored in the first 10 minutes. In total, we spent an hour in the museum, and didn’t bother claiming our single free ice cream - a cheap marketing trick to make you buy 3 more.

Museum looked very interesting in brochure. Bought family ticket for £45. (Two adults and two teens). Shackleton story is amazing, but the ice tunnel experience and the fairy lights felt like a Christmas experience repurposed and crowded.
The shipwreck section of museum, while exhibits had many cool artefacts, the displays were difficult to navigate from poor presentation. Would have liked to see section dedicated to local shipwrecks near and around Cornwall. Ticket included one free ice cream, would have been nice if it was two (for the two kid tickets)

The museum had lots of interesting artefacts but the displays were cluttered and badly in need of some cleaning and modernised presentation. The Shackleton experience felt a little bit tacky (lots of fairy lights) and not very well designed. Staff were friendly and the gift shop was good. We paid for a family ticket (£45) and were told the ticket price included an ice cream - we assumed that meant an ice cream each but no, it meant literally one ice cream! This is obviously a marketing trick to get people to visit the cafe and really left a bad taste. I really like to support these museums but this one sadly was very average and definitely not value for money in my view. TBH, my advice would be to spend more time walking around the lovely harbour - you’ll probably see and learn just as much.

I found this museum by accident as I went in to get out of the rain, having admired the impossibly picturesque harbour at Charlestown. I love the story of Shackleton and the Endurance and sea-faring tales in general, so this museum was right up my street. The 8000 items from 150 shipwrecks were well displayed with clear explanations. It was a really fascinating collection.

How much is it to get in and how much for car park is it suitable for disabled

No car park but reasonable priced car park across from museum. May be free parking for disabled but not sure. Museum itself fine for wheelchair but seem to recall steps to café. Forgotten price but not expensive.
