We hiked Route 215 in mid afternoon. Parking was no problem at this time, but we only had about 1.5 hours at the lake to ensure we got back in good light. We found the trek took about 2 hours each way. With good footwear this route is not too challenging, but if you really hate heights it probably isn’t for you.
The lake is simply stunning and well worth setting a bit to get to the top of the trail. The highlight of our trip to the Dolomites.

Challenging route, we did the path 213+216 on the way and the 215 on the way back... both challenging but the view is spectacular both of the lake and the Dolomites... beautiful experience

The 4-star reason for such a wonder? I had a different memory of Lake Sorapis. I had seen it several times 25-30 years ago. Most of the time I could take pictures with the desert lake, a fairy tale. After so many years I wanted to show my family this wonder but I never expected such a scene. Many people warned me that the situation had changed dramatically. Fortunately we chose the most strenuous route to reach the lake, so the route was difficult but with few people along the path. Arriving above we saw the procession coming from the other route and then people scattered all around the perimeter of the lake. Unfortunately Lake Sorapis as I remember it remains only in my heart. However, I dare to say that these wonders deserve respect, you can not improvise and climb certain paths in slippers just to say you have seen the lake. It is no coincidence that I saw the helicopter in action on the path invaded by the procession of people.

Beautiful lake, the water color is indiscriminate, of a glacial blue, never seen the same water color. The walk is difficult, even having seen couples with small children I think these should not be taken. When we arrive the image we have of the lake is wonderful

For heaven's sake, you will say, you went in August and brought it upon yourself. The fact remains that there were hundreds of people, mostly young people, who proceeded on the path, sometimes exposed, with sustained pace, someone running. The target? Probably a story about IG

An incredible color that is worth all the effort, namely: the parking not found after 9.30; the crowds (Indian line in some stretches, noise, unlikely clothing); a couple of points uphill decidedly tiring. Bonus: splendid view of the Sorapis amphitheater and adventurous route, so fun.

Spectacular lake and absolutely worth visiting.
The journey is challenging and requires suitable shoes and a few bottles of water as the journey takes place completely in nature.
We arrived at the lake along path 215 that starts at Federavecchia, where you can park your car for free. The route to get to the lake is 2 hours (4 hours total round trip), but the view we find ourselves in the end is wonderful.
It is absolutely worth the effort to achieve it.

Spectacular... Challenging route, I recommend suitable shoes, water because from the starting point there is nothing... Check the weather (recommended) for the rest the breathtaking view Among other things also called Ditto di Dio 😍 compensates for all the difficulty to reach.

I took the most beautiful photos of 2023 here!
I recommend comfortable shoes and layered clothing, bring water and a hat!

Hello fellow hikers !
I'm planning on doing the Lago Di Sorapiss hike on the 30th of July and would like your inputs in planning my itinerary :)
July 29th - Munich to Cortina D' Ampezzo by public transport
Munich -> Fortezza (by train) -> Dobbiaco/Toblach
(by local train) -> Cortina (by bus)
Is this the fastest possible public transport route? I can make train booking to Fortezza on DeustcheBahn website but I'm unable to find online booking portals for the rest of the journey, any ideas here?
July 30th - Cortina to Passo Tre Croci by bus line 31 -> circular hike and return to Passo Tre Croci (can tickets be purchased on spot?)
July 31st - Cortina to Venice - Direct bus ATVO Line 29
- They sell tickets on the ATVO website, however does any have any comments if the bus is reliable and punctual?
Please let me know if you have any suggestions/recommendations ! Thanks !

Io metterei gli scarponcini da trekking, il percorso in alcune parti è stretto bagnato e con lo strapiombo quindi attrezzatura necessaria... PS armati di taaaanta pazienza

Buongiorno a tutti! Com è il lago verso la fine di marzo? C è il rischio di beccare ancora tanta neve? Considerato che non sta nevicando praticamente nulla ho pensato che quest anno a fine marzo sarà già primavera inoltrata.. Qualcuno c è stato in questo periodo?
