Hello, my name is Zlata, and I would like to recommend the Italian ski resort of Livigno, located right on the border with Switzerland.
I have been skiing since I was three years old and it is my favorite kind of therapy. After traveling to many places, my family and I finally found the perfect place for us - Livigno. We first visited here in 2019 and it was the best ski experience of my life. Livigno is part of the Alta Valtellina ski region and therefore one ski pass allows you to ski on the slopes of Bormio and Santa Caterina. Free ski buses run between the resorts. For professionals and intermediate skiers, I recommend my dad's and my route: At an altitude of 2797 m, the cable car rises to the top of the mountain, where the red runs start, with a good enough terrain, but not particularly difficult. In another skiing area, Motolino, a large telecabin rises to an altitude of 2349 meters. Here you can choose one of two routes: first climb above Monte della Neve (2785 m), from the top of which the black and red pistes start, and then master the opposite slope and descend to Trepalla. Here the pistes are easier, especially the long gentle descent back to Livigno.
If you're not interested in skiing, it's not the only entertainment here. Sport is good, of course, but I was equally impressed by the huge duty-free. The streets with shops are endless and it takes several days to walk around them completely. Here you'll find all the brands you know and don't know, and surprisingly, I haven't seen better prices in Europe yet .
Other amenities at the resort include indoor swimming pools, thermal waters, gyms, well-trodden hiking trails and indoor tennis courts. A favorite pastime is dog sledding.
You can find a restaurant of any cuisine in the world, but I advise you to choose Italian. Just thinking about the pizza with salami we ate there probably every day, I want to go there on the first flight.
As for the weather, it is always sunny and snowy here! The resort's motto is "Long live the sun and snow!"
I was especially fascinated by the scenery on the way to Livigno, as we were driving through winter Switzerland. When I need a little peace, I close my eyes and imagine myself there, driving through an open tunnel and looking at the ice-covered lake, lit by the sun and the Alps in the background.
Livigno is an amazing ski resort. Words cannot describe this beauty and everything we saw. This place has my heart forever.

Wonderful location, you touch the sky! Too bad you stay on the ground for the costs: you pass the cable car (which however accepts dogs and my children had a great time) but the restaurant is not really cheap....
and vegan practically nothing. :-(

At the top of Livigno, you can enjoy a wonderful 360° view. Great for walks on high ground. Full of bicycles. Unfortunately cable car price increased by 30% from last year (from 16€ to 21€). Lunch below the average of Livigno both in quality and as the canteen service with the tray to self-service. Fairly expensive (example: 500ml bottle of water for 2.9€). Let's say that for once you can stay to eat in this structure. It still compensates for the natural location.

climbed by cable car , two sections , you arrive at 2760 meters of the carousel , here the view ranges from the Ortles Cevedale group and all the peaks of the Stelvio park , the Orobic Alps , up to the Bernina group , below stretches the Livigno valley to the lake of the same name ; at the arrival of the cable car there is a self-service restaurant bar , good and with the ticket you receive two coupons of € 1 for drinks at the bar and ice cream ; you can then choose between stopping to sunbathe on the free deckchairs you need a good sunscreen , take walks in the surroundings or if you have a one-way ticket go down on foot ; in summer you can bring mountain bikes and do various routes ; there are also games for children , in any case you will not get bored

You cannot leave Livigno without having been to the top at least once. The beautiful landscape, you can take beautiful walks suitable for the whole family. The refreshment offers a wide range of courses

Get to almost 3000 meters perfectly.
Very polite staff both at the ticket office and on the way.
You get to the first trance and are warned to stay s edge x the second part that arrives on the summit.
On top, a beautiful playground for children.
Improve the trail signs.
Price 21 euro x return

A paradise for lovers of Flow trails, trails in perfect condition for km and km of slopes for all tastes. Fast ascent thanks to the wide choice of lifts in the area. Also perfect for children and beginner riders.

5 stars for the ski resort.
Zero stars for the food.
The ski resort Carosello 3000 is amazing! I suggest to go there, but never eat there.
On top Carosello3000 The restaurant tavola calda is terrible! The same menù every day in the last 30 years.
Quality of food is very low, and is super expensive, 14€ for pre-cooked spaghetti it’s a fraud. Pre-cooked pasta is not what you expect in Italy.
Pizzeria is even worst, expensive and terrible quality.
I suggest to bring your own food, or eat on the mountain on the other side of the valley.

sure, you can take your dog in the gondola.
Once you’re at the top, It’s important to keep him on a leash while running free can be dangerous for the skiers and for himself.

L’impianto di risalita si trova alla fine del paese basta salire su uno dei bus e chiedere al conducente ad ogni fermata una voce nel bus indica il luogo come nelle metro

Hi
This is our first time skiing in Livigno and we know nothing about the resort. Someone has mentioned that there are two ski areas?Is that correct? If so, how do they differ?
We plan to travel in March. We prefer to choose a hotel that is within easy walking distance to ski lifts so can you advise on areas that we should look at? Ideally we want to be close to the village for evening and the slopes for day. Thanks Roisin

Hi there! Livigno is the ideal ski destination and there are bus services from early until 8pm so you can get to any ski area easily. Mottilino has a big variety of slopes(blue to black) and restaurants on the slopes. There are a lot of other ski areas, you will find good info on google. The town is pretty much walking distance from all areas, but I will recommend trying to get a hotel/ apartment more towards central town if you enjoy the night vibe. Enjoy!!!

I am new to the ski field. I have taken lesson in a snowdome bofore. I want to do it outdoors and I have seen that Livigno is a good place to go.
I would like to know if I should book sort of lessons when I get there or in advanced? Also,I would like to know about prices, packages, etc.
