On October 11 we left Milazzo, we had been in Sicily for a few days, last destination the Castle imagining a fast thing. A surprise awaited us up high. After the entrance we found a world of museums, the church, all with a wonderful view of the coast and the Aeolian Islands. Enchanted by the view, we hear a gentleman calling us to enter the fairytale museum. We are the only visitors, the gentleman who invited us begins to tell the story of the invasions in Sicily, seen by everyone as conquest, as something to own and exploit, not as a wonderful land to love. Comparing this kind of love to love for the woman you love tells us about his meeting with his beloved and current wife for more than fifty years. All this story is accompanied by music that he gets with a tambourine and a thought-provoker and the music gets sweet when he talks about love and hard and loud when he talks about conquest and violence. It was like attending a high-level theatrical performance giving us unexpected emotions. A month has passed and we are still amazed at the great gift we had and we will not forget. We are only sorry that we did not buy one of the wonderful masks in various materials that he and his wife manufacture, it would have been a wonderful memory. Lovely place with a breathtaking view! I recommend visiting it because it is a charming place, with many museums inside, very kind staff! We spent about two hours , with a pleasant surprise inside the fairytale museum ☺️ the clean and fragrant toilets, I recommend comfortable shoes 😄

Considerable size of the whole complex (not only of the castle rich in rooms and environments) that is worth visiting all, following the explanations to better appreciate the peculiarities and history. The museum of the sea, the museum of the "tonnara", the various adjacent walkways... Spectacular views of the sea, the city and the Aeolian Islands. Special thanks to the ticket office staff, very courteous and helpful.

Beautiful Federiciano castle, wonderful location from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view that ranges from the mountains to the sea. You can see Etna and the Aeolian Islands and, at the foot of the castle, the splendid Tono bay with its crystal-clear blue sea.
We walked through the castle park, walking along the walls from different historical eras, admired the view, visited the small thematic museums... it was a very pleasant morning!

The breathtaking view is just one reason to visit the castle. Inside, the sea museum, the tuna fishery museum and the small botanical garden are really worth the price of entry (€7 per person)

Really beautiful to look at! It looks like it hasn't been finished yet, the restaurant shown on the map doesn't exist and there are still cables for the lighting along the paths. Apart from a few missing information cards, it's really well prepared. Definitely take the guide with you to listen to, there's a lot more information than on the signs. Great view of the sea. We also found the whale impressive, even if the story behind it is very sad.
All in all, a lovely day trip destination that we can recommend.

Fortification rich in history and mysteries, extensive and relatively well preserved, the result of alterations in different eras (from prehistory to the Bourbon era). Worthy of note are not only the Spanish bastions and the iconic "eyes of Milazzo", but also the arches and lava stone portals that evoke medieval eras. With the unification of Italy it became a prison and the cells in the central stronghold are still clearly visible. Inside there are also small museums and archaeological curiosities. However, the complex can be enhanced much more. In addition to the lack of parking for visitors, the lack of displays in most of the rooms is disappointing. Other rooms have missing, dirty settings... even the audio guide that can be listened to with the app turns out to be a text read by a vocal synthesizer (with alienating changes in tone). A professional player to record audio guides would not seem like a terrible investment. The impression is of wandering in a historical/testimonial complex left with a lack of maintenance and management.

The fortified citadel is an experience to be had. It's really big, in fact we're talking about one of the largest castles in Europe. it is wonderfully well preserved, made up of several buildings, including the Muma (go there!!!), I love the courtyard of the castle, where shows are often held... and then the view is breathtaking: Eastern and Western seas and from the latter you can admire the Aeolian Islands on the horizon!

Hello
I heard that there is a bus near the cruise terminal to Castello di Milazzo.
After I get off, how far is the walk to the Castello di Milazzo? Also, is the road flat or steep?
About the bus, is there 24 hr bus pass or day bus pass? How much is it? And does the buses go to different sights?

Hello ! I don't know about the bus but the walk is nice but steep.
It took us about 40 minutes to walk from the ferry terminal
