That day it was cold, with the wind and the drizzle, but I decided to climb the Brandale tower, because I was very curious, it was very incredible, because I saw the painting, Francesco Hayez's kiss, climbing the tower and reaching the top I had shivers with the climate but with the view.

Came here today with family it was an impromptu decision but well worth it. Really fascinating and the absolutely charming guides are so passionate about the history of their town and just lovely people. Great interaction with my teen daughter and that is no mean feat! Recommended! Lots of stairs!

Zusammen mit den beiden mittelalterlichen Türmen Corsi und Guarnieri befindet sich der Torre Brandale auf dem gleichnamigen Platz am Hafen. Vermutlich Mitte des Jahres 1100 erbaut, war er, mit 50 Metern Höhe, der Hauptturm der 50 Türme der Stadtmauer. Im Turm hängt noch heute die antike Stadtglocke Campanassa.

Durante un giro a Savona abbiamo partecipato a una visita guidata alla torre. Le visite sono tenute dai volontari dell'associazione che qui ha sede. Oltre a vedere tutto l'interno della torre e godere, una volta giunti in cima, della vista su tutta la città, abbiamo apprezzato le descrizioni e le notizie storiche della preparatissimo guida che ci ha accompagnati.

Ho visto questa torre solamente da fuori perchè in quel momento non si potevano salire i famosi 100 gradini che portano alla sommità. Peccato! Comunque mi sono fatta spiegare un po' l'inamicizia tra i Savonesi ed i genovesi, ed ho letto che era la principale delle 50 torri facenti parti delle mura cittadine. E' chiamata anche IL CAMPANASSO perchè assomiglia ad un campanile.

La Torre del Brandale era la principale delle circa 50 torri delle mura cittadine, e sulla sommità delle torri venivano accesi dei fuochi, che fungevano da fari.

Non sapevo che Savona avesse così tante torri e questa è la più alta. Detta anche il "Campanasso" perché assomiglia più ad un campanile che ad una torre, ha quasi attaccate altre due torri che, specialmente di sera, illuminate, formano un bel complesso.

Vale la pena di salire i cento gradini , accompagnati dalle guide appassionate facenti parte di una associazione della città. Si gode un'ottimo panorama e ci si erudisce a proposito di Savona , dei Savonesi e dei suoi nemici storici: i Genovesi.
