Unique Natural Scupltures
2021年1月
If you're in the Big Bend area and have the time, head west on 170 to see the hoodoos. They are quite interesting rock formations formed by erosion. It's an easy walk, as is the walk down to the river.

Worth a drive!
2021年3月
I can't get enough of the scenery. We didn't take the hike, but parked at the trail head and took photos.

Kind of boring
2021年4月
This was our first hike in the Big Bend area and I'm glad the rest were more scenic. Follow the trail the short distance to see the hoodoos, but don't go down to the river because there's nothing there and the path back is boring.

Worth a stop!
2021年4月
I must admit I had to look up the definition of hoodoo. The short answer is a column or pinnacle of weathered rock. The word originated in Africa. It was thought that the rock structures were strange animal shapes and possibly contained evil spirits. Sometimes, the rock shapes are referred to as fairy towers or on the other end of the spectrum, goblins. I didn’t see anything like that (just rocks), but it is fun to let your imagination go wild! The kids will like it here as the boulder scrambling is relatively easy and leads to the El Rio. The trail is about 1.2 miles total. Worth a stop!

Neat stop on the Camino del Rio
2021年3月
This a great stop on the Camino del Rio. You get to see West Texas hoodoos and another spot where the river barely separates the US from Mexico. There also is a portable restroom if your group needs it as there are few places to stop out here. We enjoyed a few pictures here and then on to Presidio.

Great with small kids
2021年2月 • 家庭
I think one’s rating of this trail depends on expectations. I would better describe this as an area with a handful of hoodoos (nothing like Bryce Canyon) that can be explored; it’s not really much of a “trail.” We have small children and they loved exploring the rocky area around the hoodoos. We also made our way down to the Rio Grande and there’s a fantastic calm area for the kids to play in the river. We stayed about an hour.

This was a very easy hike. You hike down to the river. Not much to see here but the couple of hoodoos

We saw wild Javelinas!

Easy hike around some cool hoodoos. The best was that we saw several Javelinas (collared peccaries) walking nearby!

This drive is a must

We planned our trip to Big Bend to come in one way and exit from the another way to El Paso… This drive along the state park is amazing and the hoodoos along with other beautiful formations is well worth the trip

Unique and great option
2019年11月
A great stop for the kids to run around and see something truly unusual and unique. It is easily accessible and a great stop for either a long picnic or a short walk to see something different. An absolute must do experience for the area.
