If you are looking for fabric and pre-made sarongs, this is your place.
We went in the morning and went specifically to look for fabric. It is a quiet market, unlike the central market in Ubud. We found the experience very relaxing and purchased some very nice fabric.
As we were just making a quick stop on our way to Amed, we didn't get a chance to see the entire market. I would love to come back in the evening for the food and spend some more time there!
My biggest surprise was the city of Klungkung itself. It seems much less chaotic than Ubud. The roads are wider and traffic much better.

I loved this place. Food stalls everywhere. The smell was wonderful and the food was even better. So cheap and yet delicious. I had the traditional pork dish with crackling. Wow and only $3 Australian dollars.
Don't expect food hygiene certificates but everything was yummy. No bad tummy issues.

Der Markt bietet einen interessanten Einblick in das einheimische treiben. Zwischen stinkenden Rollern und übel duftenden Abwässern finden sich neben einheimischen Produkten jede Menge an asiatischem Plastikschrott.
Schade nur, wenn man als Besucher der Insel sofort mit überhöhten Phantasiepreisen über den Tisch gezogen wird. Da fällt es schwer die entgegengebrachte Freundlichkeit zu erwidern.

As Klungkung is not particularly touristy, the town market has mostly survived as a proper local market with a few different buildings and areas selling different products.
The textile market with its colors and fabrics is just spectacular, the food market has the usual Balinese mix of tropical fruits, vegetables and cooked food and there are a few stalls selling silver and housewares.
Try to go in the evening when it gets lively and try the super cheap 'street' food and buy endek just because it is beautiful!

We went for the food, amazing variation and a must see and do if you aee in Klungkung. Have the Bakso and Satay and the friend chicken.. I can go on and on.. You do not find many big autentic markeds like this on Bali. Here its most locals do the shopping and the prices are low.

Just opposite the town centre circle there are a few rows of clothes, bags and shoes and a few rows of food stalls.
I can't see hanging around for the 5pm start if you had something else to do.

Yes Moureen, Klungkung market has many fabric vendors and its worth a visit if you are hunting for it. Only few tourists go there so you can get better prices than other places. Give yourself time to explore the whole place including the shops on the lowest level as they had so much down there. I saw lots of 1 inch wide, colourful fabric tape laced with gold thread in so many styles.

Iedere dag. En...het is een heel aparte plaats om te bezoeken. Wel wat rommelig, maar geweldig kleurrijk. Vergeet ook niet aan de overkant van de weg het VOC vergadergebouw en het museum te bezoeken.
