Wonderful place to visit. Got to see the animals up close and hear about how they had been rescued and rehabilitated. The the tour guide - a biological scientist was very knowledgeable.

It deserves a detour of your trip. Why not contribute to such worthy work? Everything stems from the desire to return something to nature that man has taken from it; the recovery of animals injured, abandoned or unjustly exploited by man for recreational or profit purposes. In this journey we were accompanied by Andrea, who explained the purpose of the activity, how it takes place and illustrated the characteristics and peculiarities of some species of host animals, which, unfortunately (again because of man) can no longer be inserted in nature. Thankfully, many of the animals helped can be released after their intervention. We felt the passion that is poured into this “mission”. It was a wonderful two hours spent. Thank you.

Booked on line sloth and coffee tour. Took an uber there about 45 minutes. I happen to be there and the only one booked so it was a bit like a private tour. They provide a video introduction by the founder who still lives on the property first. Followed by the introduction of a up close encounter with a long time resident sloth who cannot be released due to circumstances. Magical. Then I had Andrea as my guide who was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She explained everything about the animals and birds as well as encouraged questions. I never felt rushed and the mission and ethical approach to this work and place is credible . There is a large array of birds and animals all of which have a story. They rescue rehabilitate and release where possible. The animals in the release program are kept separate so as not to interfere with future ability to release but you get to experience those who cannot and this is an amazing experience. I can't recommend enough to go visit and support. You can also stay a couple of nights on site. Again, I highly recommend if you have time to support this group of dedicated people saving costa Rica's wildlife.

We took a private ranch walk tour. This was one of the most extraordinary and moving tours I have ever been a part of. Our guide, “Joc” (like Joss) was a biologist, so her knowledge was quite amazing. The mission of the Toucan rescue is to rehabilitate animals, and they practice the highest of ethics with regard to the animals in their care. In addition to toucans and sloths, we saw monkeys, an ocelot, an otter, and other animals. I highly recommend a visit.

I took an afternoon tour with Jocelyn before attending their annual charity benefit Tunes for Toucans. I visited because the Toucan Rescue Ranch was mentioned in Lucy Cooke's books. It exceeded expectations. I appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the tour. Jocelyn was extremely knowledgeable, and I liked the emphasis placed on how humans, abet sometimes unwittingly and with good intentions, can harm wildlife. The tour also addressed one of my personal pet peeves about selfies with animals.

If you want to see a sloth, you must go to Toucan Rescue Ranch and attend the "Slothies with Coffees" tour. A staff member will bring out a sloth and place him or her on a "jungle gym" for sloths. You will learn all about sloths while you watch the sloth, just a few feet away, clamber around on the tree branches. You will learn more about sloths than you could ever find on the Internet. We learned so much and asked so many questions. Just an amazing experience. Bring your best camera! Joh (Johanna) was our guide and she was terrific. After spending time with Helga the sloth, we toured the rest of the Ranch with Joh and met all kinds of Costa Rican animals and learned their backstories. And, of course, we saw more sloths. A truly wonderful experience. We were able to Uber from San Jose to Toucan Rescue Ranch, then Uber to lunch at Sibo Chocolate Factory (wonderful!), and then Uber back to San Jose. There are other sloth sanctuaries in Costa Rica, but I doubt you would get to see sloths as up close as you would here.
We attended TRR early Dec 2023...right on the cusp of wet and dry seasons. We had perfect weather.

We really enjoyed our ranch tour with Issac! It was the perfect way to set the stage for our two week trip in Costa Rica. They spend a lot of time explaining the mission of the organization and educating visitors on ethical ways to observe animals. It is clearly a working organization, and I really like how they don’t bring visitors near animals being rehabilitated. The animals there to see are all unable to be brought back to the wild for various reasons. Overall, I learned so much and I felt like it set the stage for understanding animal life in Costa Rica. Definitely recommend visiting them!
