It’s a lovely walk out of Beziers to the Locks. It’s a real feat of engineering and even now is impressive. Great views of the town as well. Worth a visit even in winter

It is a place that could be perfect if parking was not so expensive , and if everything was not so "astonished": too bad there are not more shaded and natural places... why not take a fun route with the children, with explanations, by building along the canal...

We enjoyed walking along the promenade by the locks and seeing the boats passing through. From the car park you can also walk into Beziers along the walkway. Car parking is expensive at €7 if you’re only there for a short visit - but if you go on your visit Beziers then might be OK.
There is a restaurant (a bit chaotic but nicely located) and a tourist office next to the canal).

A must-see historic place, it is very pleasant to walk along the locks, with a very well-appointed path, benches and something to eat.

The locks are a must see!
Very nice to see these in operation when a boat passes.
Parking is nicely landscaped and payable (€7).
We went around 17h and then there was parking enough and doable of temperature and people.
We had a drink after viewing the locks on the terrace (restaurant le 9).
RESTAURANT LE 9: Here we have NO GOOD EXPERIENCE!
We both drank a kir cassis. This one was €5/glass. The waiter charged us €11 and he was still struggling to pay it back. Above all, he was very unfriendly!.
So be sure to check your bill!
With drinks from another table we saw that he picked up a fallen straw (on a dirty surface) and put it back in the child's glass. He looked again to see if people hadn't seen this!

Parking is excessively expensive! 7€ for 1h30/2h because the visit to the locks is quite fast. Despite all the scenery is pretty and there is a nice walk to do. Be careful not to go in the middle of the afternoon because there is no shade at all, it is very hot!

Flight parking fare . Ditto circuit , all for a few locks without interests in an area of barely 500m. It is a manifest and uninhibited tourist catch.

Walk along the canal with this impressive locks passage.
Attention in strong heat because very little shade.
On the small train route, boat ride , catering possible.
Possibility to extend the walk to the cathedral (2 kms gone).
In short a "curiosity" to see punctuated by a beautiful walk.

Nice trip, you can park nearby so do not necessarily need the pay parking.
Impressive for the children, especially when the boats make the climb through the locks:-). Nice view from the cafe at the top

Bonjour,pouvez vous me dire si on peut faire la descente des écluses jusqu au pont canal a pieds et la distance approximative. Et t il ensuite possible de prendre le petit train après le pont canal pour aller jusqu à l église Saint Nazaire. J aimerai connaître la distance de l église Saint Nazaire jusqu au retour du parking en haut des écluses.merci pour votre aide

Bonjour Line, il y a 3 compagnies qui proposent des balades en péniche et qui passent les Ecluses. Vous pouvez trouver toutes leurs infos sur le site de l'Office de Tourisme Béziers Méditerranée.
Les 3 compagnies sont Les Bateaux du Midi, les Bateaux du Soleil et la compagnie Cap au Sud.

La descente ou remontée edt un dénivelé de 21 mètres de hauteur sur 350m de long, a pied donc une fois descendu du bateau

We went last autumn - there was no pedestrian access to the locks or anywhere with a useful view of them, or the fantastic inclined plane (a technological failure) adjacent to the locks. Boats were still able to pass through though. The new carpark is quite a walk away by the temporary route. It will be an excellent tourist destination when all reopened.

Oui les chiens sont admis a vous de faire en sorte qu il ait fait ses besoins avant de monter et si possible qu il reste tranquille en le gardant en laisse à moins qu il n ait l habitude de rester couché a vos pieds ou là ou vous le laisserez le temps du voyage
