Our tour with Sylvester was simply outstanding. He's been giving tours for 19 years and clearly shows his understanding of both the history and significance of each location but also gets deeply into what we personally want to get out of the trip. He was able to solve a long mystery for one member of our group - we found the memorial for his great grandfather who was lost at the battle of the Somme.
Sylvester's guidance was priceless for our trip. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

We had a fabulous day with Sylvestre on the Somme tour. We were picked up punctually and explored all the major Australian monuments and cemeteries in the area of the Somme. The day was fascinating and Sylvestre was full of local and Australia knowledge. We saw several cemeteries, monuments and finished at the impressive John Monash Museum. His van was very comfortable and he picked a lovely local cafe for lunch. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in WW1 history.

An absolutely outstanding experience. We had Sylvestre take us on a private tour from Paris to the Verdun battlefield. From the first to the last, he was terrific. I wasn’t sure which battlefield to visit but when I wrote Sylvestre, he patiently explained the differences between the various sites, leading us to settle on Verdun. He then picked us up at our rental apartment and drove us through the countryside to the scene. Along the way, he was personable, organized and knowledgeable - an excellent travel companion and guide. Once there, he led us through the remarkably preserved battlefield. We climbed in and out of trenches, dodged barbed wire and explored large underground forts while Sylvestre explained and contextualized what we were seeing. He also took us to the excellent Verdun museum and the incredibly moving Ossury, where the dead, both known and unknown, are memorialized. It was all terrific and I cannot recommend this tour more highly.

Sylvester was great, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, we did a full day tour that took in a lot of the WW1 key sites. Had lunch a a good restaurant in Albert. All in all a very good day.

Our trip to the Somme to visit the battlefields where the Australians fought was a truly humbling experience and one that I would recommend all Australians to do in their lifetime. You will never forget. Our tour guide Slyvestre was extremely knowledgeable on the conflicts and history. We were truly humbled by this experience and thank Slyvestre for his company.
In closing, the Sir John Monash museum at Villers-Bretonneux is a must see.

What an amazing tour. Sylvester, our guide, was fantastic. No crowds, no time pressure and so accommodating. Even went out of his way to take us to a family member's grave at Dernancour cemetery. Had lunch at a lovely little Cafe with gluten free options. Great tour and would recommend it to any Aussie touring Paris.

Absolutely amazing & emotional experience on this tour with Sylvestre. Visited so many sites of the western front of WW1. Highly recommended this tour for every Australian if you get to France. Thank you Sylvestre.

I would highly recommend this tour with Sylvestre. We came from Australia to see the battlefields. The private tour was everything we had hoped for and more. Sylvestre was knowledgeable and helpful and let us move around at our own pace. Went to Albert for lunch which was great as well. Feel very lucky to have experienced this tour .

Hi, My wife and I will be travelling to Paris in the early part of June. How I wish to visit the Somme and surrounding area as my late Grandfather fought there in WWI. How far in advance would you suggest I should book for the Somme Day tour. Regards David

Villers Bretonneux, the Australian Memorial, Sir John Monash center and Pozieres area are included on our regular tour in the Somme.
