I liked Konstanz very much, I found it fascinating not only for the location and history of the Council (it defined the course of Christianity recognizing the uniqueness of the Pope) but especially for Roman and medieval influences. In Niedburg there are narrow and winding streets and in Munsterplatz the remains of the ancient Roman fortification (300 AD) are visible under a stained glass window. Affascinante!

You could spend hours there...from the cathedral to the small quiet streets, the historic half-timbered and painted houses, various fountains (Peter Lenk and Kaiserbrunnen), the Weissenberg center etc.

The old town of Konstanz is a real gem.
The buildings are beautiful with fascinating, richly decorated bay windows and completely painted facades.
It deserves to be visited carefully and to be transported into this magical atmosphere.

Konstanz is in fact a great town with a generally good atmosphere and plenty to see and do especially with acces to the many BSB ships to ferry you around the lake. Unfortunalty, since our last trip here in 2019 Konstanz has been plagued with graffiti and tagging everywhere. It has lowered the appeal to this once beautiful town and given it a trashy feeling. While the town is still safe and you can enjoy what it has to offer, it just isn't the same. Just across the lake in Meersburg we had an enjoyable day in a scenic surrounding without the trashy graffiti. To me this showed a larger community respect. Why Konstanz does not clamp down on all graffiti is beyond me, especially for a tourist town. MESSAGE TO KONSTANZ CITY OFFICIALS....MAKE YOU TOWN BEAUTIFUL AGAIN!

Konstanz heeft een extreem mooi en verzorgd historisch centrum dat nergens enig spoor van verval vertoont.
Kortom een plezier om hier rond te lopen mede door de oude historische gebouwen is het niet interessant voor de grote winkelketens om zich hier te vestigen . Deze vind je aan de rand van het historisch centrum waar een soort van ringweg rond loopt waardoor bovendien het centrum quasi volledig autovrij is voor bezoekers.
Een voorbeeldig stadsbeleid.

La città vecchia di Costanza offre molti scorci belli e interessanti da scoprire, in una sorta di piccola caccia al tesoro da fare assolutamente a piedi, anche perché la sua area pedonale è abbastanza grande. Prendetevi il vostro tempo, ne sarete soddisfatti. Noi lo siamo stati.

Bellissimo il centro storico medievale di questa città adagiata sul lago. Ovunque palazzi storici, belle piazze, locali di vario genere e negozi. Un piacere perdersi per le sue viuzze.

La più grande città del lago omonimo all'estremo sud della Germania, situata nella regione del Baden-Württemberg, è adagiata sull'acqua in posizione unica.
E' piacevole camminare lungo le sponde del Bodensee, raggiungere sul molo l'iconica statua di Imperia, opera in cemento alta nove metri e ruotante sul proprio asse, che minimizza il potere delle autorità temporale e spirituale.
Interessante passeggiare lungo le stradine tortuose del caratteristico centro storico ammirando eleganti palazzi e originali fontane fino a giungere alla magnifica cattedrale che nel Medioevo fu sede del Concilio ecclesiastico.
E' piacevole camminare lungo le sponde del Bodensee, raggiungere sul molo l'iconica statua di Imperia, opera in cemento alta nove metri e ruotante sul proprio asse, che minimizza il potere delle autorità temporale e spirituale.

A stroll in the old town is a must. Perfectly renovated buildings and relaxed atmosphere. You just go from a beautiful building to another. Very nice.
