After the renovation, the museum has become a real gem. With audio clips, films, descriptions and the diverse exhibits you gain an optimal impression of the dangerous life as a forest worker, from early times to today. Great and varied also the outdoor area.

There are museums for everything and everyone. So why not about lumberjacks? So please, since the weather was forecast to be terrible (spoiler: and no one came), we're going to see the museum near Ruhpolding. The full price entrance fee is €9. The history of lumberjacks from the 18th century to modern times is explained on two floors. The whole thing is suitable for children, but also interesting for adults. The films that are projected on a continuous loop onto large surfaces are nice. The transition to modern times was a bit too quick for me. There are a few old chainsaws, an old cable winch, and then the Havester comes along. It's possible that there's not more room, but I would have liked more.
There's also something interactive. You can listen to lots of conversations. All in all, it's pretty good. Then there's a big outdoor area where some old huts have been rebuilt. The whole thing is like a small open-air museum, where you can spend a good hour walking around. Although presenting the story of a hut that once stood somewhere in the area on three A4 pages is quite unusual. But OK, if you've ever spent two hours wandering through a troll museum, you can't complain.

Kenne das Museum noch von vor ca 35 Jahren.
Man war dabei, man spürte die Arbeit.
Heute das übliche Museumskonzert, Hörer abnehmen und sich was erzählen lassen. Sehr Steriel mit Ton und Desinfektionstüchern.
Dann kommt man sich noch vor wie auf einer Stihl Werbeveranstaltung.
Bei den alten Motorsägen eine Solo dabei, dann noch ein Bild von Domar und sonst Stihl.
In einem Schaukästen das komplette aktuelle Stihl Programm.
Kein Wort von großen Marken wie MC Culloch Husqvarna. Jonsered oder Partner. Pioneer usw.

Das Holzknecht Museum gibt einen Überblick über die harten Arbeitsbedingungen der Waldarbeiter. Besonders ein Ziel an Tagen, wenn das Wetter mal nicht so mitspielt. Sehr informatives Ausstellungskonzept. Empfehlenswert.

Ein schönes Museum, wirklich einen Besuch wert! Toll diese kleinen, originalen Hütten, hier hätte ich gerne noch etwas mehr auf den Tafeln gelesen. Ganz oben die Ausstellung über Ökologie könnte man interessanter machen. Für dieses schöne Museum kann man schon etwa drei Stunden einplanen.

Wenn man in Ruhpolding ist, sollte man sich die Zeit nehmen und das Museum besuchen. Es ist wirklich sehr informativ und interessant zu erfahren, wie hart die Waldarbeiter früher gearbeitet haben. Es regt zum Nachdenken an, wie gut wir es doch heute haben. Und mit welchen Hilfsmittel uns die Arbeit heute erleichtert wird. Der vorgeführte Film im Untergeschoss hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen. Ein Besuch lohnt auf alle Fälle. Und ist auch für Kinder geeignet.

Es ist eine sehr schön restaurierte Anlage mit gut gepflegtem Außenbereich.

What a warm welcome we were given. The dog came, too, and we spent nearly two hours walking round and watching the video. It was so good that I'd go again when it re-opens for the season.

Hier bekommt man Informationen über die Geschichte und Arbeit der Holzknechte, wie die Waldarbeiter der Gegend früher hießen. Beeindruckend, wie hart die Menschen früher für ihr Brot malochen mussten! Interessanter Innen- und Außenbereich, im Keller Filmvorführung. Lohnt sich.
