Terrible experience. I found out that we paid €402,- for a family with 2 children while a parent-child ticket costs €120,-.
We had lost 1 ticket and the employee with beige dog just laughed at us. (Of course, safely behind the glass with a big Mac in his hand)
For us never again the slope is not a slope but a muddy puddle
At the toboggan run, the employees constantly yell at guests, I obviously don't stand for anyone yelling at my wife and children and confronted him after which he ran away like a coward.
The problem is that people let them get away with this!!

Busy, not child-friendly and everything takes effort.
We had the biggest problems parking the car. You have to pay for most of it in cash and you really have to be there before 10 am if you want to find an affordable parking spot.
There were only a few ski slopes open, but literally nothing was kid-friendly. You couldn't even go down the mountain with a sled and it was just too dangerous for children who still had to learn to ski. The slopes that were open are much too narrow, too steep and too busy.
The eateries on the slopes were also stormed when they opened so that tourists could keep their tables occupied all day. Service was very slow and grumpy.
We will definitely not return to this area next time.

Pay attention to the weather, it always rains, don't be tempted by weather plaza, look carefully at a receptive weather site.
It's really bad now with the snow.
I was there for a week, very bad.

First off, avoid staying on weekends. This place is very touristy and gets packed on weekends with long lines on the lifts. Come on a weekday. There are a lot of car parks spread around the ski resort. If you arrive on a weekend, be sure to be there at least 30min before opening. Also check the skiliftkarussell website for weather forecast and what runs will be open.
You can also buy you ticket online but I didnt like the fact that you have to order it home and cant pick it up at the resort (at least that was the case when I was there).
Snow/Weather:
ince its a low altitude ski area, your experience may vary. Dont always expect a snow cover in town. So a spontaneous trip is mostly the best option to be sure to have snow. But one thing winterberg is good at, its snowmaking, so if everything is green and its 10°C for days, 90% of the ski runs will still be open. You dont miss out a lot of runs then.
Since its mostly artificial snow it can happen after a freezing night, that the runs turn into pure ice, making some runs (like the black run at the St George ski jump) very dangerous slippery.
Ski runs:
Most ski runs are pretty short and easy. Very beginner friendly area. My favorite runs are the Waldschneise on Kappe, Sürenberg and Poppemberg II. More challenging are the Kappe Slalomhang and the St George ski jump black runs.
Lifts:
The resort has mostly chairlifts and most of them are very modern and high capacity (6 to 8 seaters) only the very beginner hills have drag lifts.
Restaurants:
There are a couple of good places to have a drink and have some good food.
Final Advice:
Touristy beginner ski area, which can also be nice for a warm up for an upcoming trip to the alps. Profi skiers or offpiste skiers might not get satisfied here I advice to buy the Winterberg arena ski pass which includes also smaller less touristier local ski hills like Altastenberg, Willingen and Altastenberg. Also definitely check out the Flutlicht ski (evening ski) every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 to 10pm. It costs an upcharge but its very worth it.

Very crowded, so you had to wait at least 15 minutes at the lift. The staff at the lift are quite unfriendly if you are a beginner. You are basically shoved into the chairlift with the comment that if you are not fast enough you should stay at home. No consideration is given to children who would be better off riding in the lift with their parents. The person doesn't care at all that children who are beginners are sitting alone in the lift.

The ski area is completely overcrowded on good ski days. We sometimes had to wait over 30 minutes at the lift.
During the Corona times, with a limited number of ski tickets, it was still fun to ski there. At the moment, I can't recommend it to anyone.

Pisten gut präpariert und super Fahrt wenn auch relativ kurze Pisten. Ab 11 Uhr am Wochenende zu voll, ewiges Warten Lift. Auch 20 Minuten Schlange stehen an der Hütte für ein Getränk. Leider zu voll am Wochenende und es werden zu viele Tickets für die Lifte verkauft. Wochentags soll es besser sein.
Masse statt Skilaufen. Wir waren mittags dann weg.

We booked a 3 day ticket on our keycards. Because of the bad weather we wanted to refund and got our confirmation for the refund. We wanted to go ski for 1 day now instead. The lady at the desk was very unfriendly and didn’t want to charge my keycard for a day ticket and I got a separate card. Now my keycard and day ticket were in the same pocket (me thinking that my keycard wasn’t valid anymore). So the skilifts activated my three day keycard. Now they don’t wanne give me a refund anymore from the three day ticket even tho I got the conformation of cancellation and it’s not my fault the card still worked.
So after all, 1 day of skiën costed me €108 plus €45 (dayticket) €153, and no one can do anything about.
They told us, “it was a hard lesson” for us… we shouldn’t have activated the keycard…
Well I’m not coming back.

La station se situe à 4h de Bruxelles ce qui est proche pour les belges.
Nombreux remontes pentes et pistes pour tous les niveaux.
Début décembre les pistes viennent d'être ouvertes partiellement.
Télésièges à 8 places.
On n'attend pas la semaine, pistes bien préparées.
Réservation des forfaits online ou sur place.
Comme partout le week-end il y a du monde.
A recommander car le reste de la station est très bien aussi, restaurants, logements ...

Het is mogelijk om een slee te huren in de nabij omgeving waar weet ik niet maar het zou verstandigere zijn om met de baby onderaan de piste te blijven naast de skilift is er een loop pad maar boven is het erg druk met skiërs oppassen dus
