A proximité du centre ville de Morges, se trouve un magnifique parc très bien entretenu, où faire des promenades, admirer de superbes arbres, des tulipes aux couleurs variées en la saison, écouter avec enchantement le chant des oiseaux et contempler le Léman.

Jai aime beaucoup alle me promener dans se parc pas que a il une jolie vue sur le lac il y a beaucoup de jardin avec des fleurs où on peut se promener à travers des petits chemins c’est très sympa à faire avec des amis et avec la famille

I visit this Place every Year, because every year there is the Tulip Festival. The park is right on Lake Geneva and a stunning panorama.

Wir waren zum Besuch der Tulpenausstellung hier. Eine wunderschöne Anlage mit all den verschiedenen Tulpenarten. Gar nicht gewusst, dass es so viele Arten gibt.

After sightseeing a nice place to relax, to sit on a bench or to look across the lake towards the mountains in Savoy, is the Parc de l'indépendence to the south of the old town. It is located between the Château, whose 'pré' (meadow) it once had been, and the river La Morges. in 1845 began the transormation of this rather wild area into a park, which was originally called 'Parc de la République'. In 1898 the centenary jubilee for Vaud's independence from Bernese rule took place here and the the park got its new name.
A 'Monument des Patriotes Vaudois' stands in the park, commemorating this event and three local patriots, who were involved 100 years earlier to gain the freedom. There are other monuments as well, one in memory of the scientist François-Alphonse Forel, another dedicated to the victms of the arsenal fire on March 2nd, 1871. There is also a big funerary stele to the Dutch general van Oyen, who served in the Napoleonic Army and who died in Morges in 1850.
A place in the park is named after Louis Soutter, an Art Brut painter, who was born in Morges 1871, and an alley bears the name Henryk Opienski after the Polish composer, who died in Morges in 1942. There is also the Hercules Fountain, a copy of a bronze found in Pompeii, showing the baby Hercules killing a snake. Among the many beautiful trees one will also find two Sequoias: a Giant Redwood from california and a Metasequoia from China.
The big action in the park takes place during the Festival de la Tulipe (last time from April 1st to May 9th 2021)., when over 100'000 tulips, daffodills and hyacinths are planted here, an event that wa started in 1971. Then maybe also some music will be playing at the over 120 years old 'Kiosque de Musique'.

Also pleasant to visit. So many events all year long to see. From tulips in spring to dahlia in late summer, always something to do and see. Well kept, clean.

Great park however for me the best views of the lake were from the promenade located left from the park if you are facing the lake. The tulips were not ready yet, I visited end of February. But the poster said that the tulip festival starts 20th of March until May. Have fun!

Planned to just have a stroll around this park at the lake. Turned out we just hit the Tulip season that time and that meant a huge and wonderful display of Tulips of all kinds in the park. And it's a quite famous festival, even though due to Covid-19 there weren't any festivities going on, just the Tulips to look at and to enjoy.
Amazing in what shapes and colours Tulips grow. It was just beautiful to roam around this park and look at the flowers. And you can get up-close to them (so close that some people started to damage some displays, pls. be respectful). Got some wonderful pictures out of that afternoon.
In times like these this was really a wonderful, uplifting thing to do. No entrance fee, huge parking lot (paid) right next to and dogs are allowed in the park. And with the nice Lake Geneva and its mountains in the back it makes for a great scenery.

Straigt from the internet site : "The Tulip Festival (Fête de la Tulipe) in Morges is held each year from early April to mid-May. Around 300 varieties of tulips are planted in the Independence Park behind Morges Castle – this allows the tulips to bloom at different times. The weather, of course, determines when the tulip displays are at their best."
End May will be the tail end of it all - extremely little if any left. It is also so far very warm this winter so they may bloom earlier than usual.
