We had been staying in Zurich and looked at doing the long cruise on Lake Zürich (Zurichsee). We’d decided to get of the boat at Rapperswill and I’m glad we did. We’d learnt of the wooden bridge and walked it. Like other reviewers we saw fish and birds and just enjoyed the walk. If only we had more time. If we do return to Europe I’d love to visit The Rapperswill wooden bridge.

Wooden bridge connecting the two places, directly along/over the lake. Despite the road near very quiet and relaxing. A few benches on the way and at the beginning is a small snack stand. Wonderful views

This was something fun to do if you like to walk surrounded by nature. We walked to where the asphalt starts leading to Hurden in about 16 minutes. The day was warm and hazy. Views were ok but we loved the views from the castle a lot more. Got a little too hot since the entire walk has no shade.

Easy walk from the train station. Lovely views of the lake. Narrow areas and can get crowded with people on a nice, clear-weather day. Looking for an easy stroll? Then this is the walk for you!

It was a cold winter’s day and my second visit to Rapperswil. I returned on 27-2-2023 because I missed walking the bridge on my first visit (on 19-2-2023) as I was very focused on completing my hike from Rapperswil to Stäfa on that first visit.
The bridge was easy to get to from the railway station. However, I will recommend that u walk around the old town first and leave the bridge to the last unless you want to backtrack all the way to the railway station.
Walking along the 800+ metre bridge was absolutely delightful as the surrounding vista was a feast for the eyes… the water, the snow-capped mountains in the distance, the ducks in the water …. They make such a great composition for photographs.
For those who are not keen on hiking, then backtracking to the railway station is an option.
For those who are keen to explore the nearby villages, I suppose u can do that.
For me, I hiked all the way to Pfaffikon SZ to take the train back to Zurich. My reward for that hike is an album in my mind of all the picturesque, postcard-perfect scenery along the way. The train from Pfaffikon to Zurich plies the route along the shore of Lake Zurich and this, in itself, is an unexpected bonus for me.

I visited this bridge in November. The weather was good. It's beautiful. I walked all the way to hurden and took lots of photos. It was quiet and I had a good time. I also visited a small church near the bridge at hurden. I started from Rapperswil train station

Wunderschöner Spazierweg übers Wasser. Am schönsten frühmorgens beim Sonnenaufgang oder abends beim Sonnenuntergang - dann sind tolle Stimmungsbilder garantiert.

The bridge is of Swiss construction. Safety first !
We crossed the lake in about 30 minutes. A well deserved lunch at the lake terrace of hotel Rösli in Hurden was our award.

Uno dei ricordi più belli che ho portato a casa dal mio lungo tour svizzero.
Una lunga e romantica passeggiata su una passerella di legno che non solo vi consentirà di essere a stretto contatto di cigni e folaghe ma vi offrità anche meravigliose vedute sul lago.
Il ponte poi si presta a spettacolari fotografie.
Al ritorno in città avrete due alternative, o rifare la passerella oppure proseguire per il passaggio pedonale che costeggia il ponte automobilistico.
Da qui avrete una bella veduta sul castello.
Imperdibile

Where is the most nearby parking for this bridge? We are comming from Pfaffikon, and also are dogs allowed to cross? is there a safe walking passage from the parking too?

On the otherside of the Trainstation, is a Parkhouse alles Parkhaus "See", you can from there cross over and in 10 min. walk you'll be there.
And yes that's safe walk.
