Amazing limited edition photographs of both the north and south island. Beautiful. And for those with a)limited wall space b) limited budget c) limited ability to carry anything home, there are beautiful postcards and composite books of many of his photographs. Petr is friendly and seemed to enjoy sharing his work...

We visited Petr Hlavacek’s gallery when we were in the Franz Joseph area, during a weeklong tour of New Zealand’s beautiful South Island. The gallery is filled with large format museum quality prints of the most beautiful landscapes, captured under extraordinary lighting and conditions. Petr spent an hour giving us a personal tour and answering questions about his work. He sells the framed prints as well as collections in a book, and also offers outings for photography buffs. His gallery is easy to get to and worth an hour or two after an adventure in the glacier or local helicopter ride.

The gallery is a wonderful stop in Whataroa because of the breathtaking and rare shots of New Zealand all around there which will be technically impossible to see from our normal sight.
Highly recommended to appreciate intense beauty of New Zealand through Petr’s pictures!

This is a beautiful landscape photography gallery that is a "must stop" when you are driving near Whataroa NZ. It is easily accessible from the highway and it is a treat to see these lovely photographs. Petr Hlavacek is a professional landscape photographer and his photographs are really evocative of the New Zealand landscape. The ocean, rainforest, and mountains are all well-represented. Don't miss the chance to stop here when you are in this part of the South Island of New Zealand. You will see some truly special photographs.

It was total surprise to find Petr Hlavacek gallery on my way to Whataroa.
I recommend leaving yourself plenty of time to be mesmerized by both the scenes he's photographed and his skills. This is a must see gallery for anyone into photography of New Zealand landscapes.
Petr Hlavacek has a talent, not just one or two great photos but a gallery filled with many stunning limited edition prints.
He is very friendly and helpful, sharing some interesting stories about the photos and where they came from. He captured the beauty and majesty of the New Zealand landscape remarkably. His photoalbums in small and big format are
available to purchase. This gallery is a beautiful way to experience his work.
The location is just at the doorstep of Whataroa, 2 km away from the city.
I would definately recommend this gallery to everybody - if I ever return to Whataroa then I would visit Petr again. Petr is a great ambassador for New Zealand landscapes with his knowledge of photographic art.
I would recommend to all who are going through Whataroa to stop in and learn! 5 stars! Thank you Petr for that remarkable experience.

Při okraji cesty jsme si všimli na upoutávce českého jména a to nás přimělo zastavit.V galerii Petra Hlavacka jsme shlédli fotografie Nového Zélandu-velmi hezké.Čech všude krajana potká,což na druhém konci světa potěší.

The gallery is really beautiful and the pictures are amazing. We were lucky to meet Petr in person so it was even better. He sells also the books so if you cant afford to spend more money, you can at least buy the book. Would recommend to everyone :-)
