The coastal walk between Freshwater Beach and Curl Curl is one of the best for coastal scenery and well worth doing. There are sections of board walk and great views of the rugged rocky coastline.

Undertook this walk as part of a walk from Collaroy to Manly. While my own favourite part of the Collaroy-Manly walk is the wilder and more elevated section around Dee Why headland, the stretch from Curl Curl to Freshwater also has plenty to offer, with some lovely coastal views (and summer breezes). It is also a much more straightforward and easier track to traverse, with much of it being along boardwalks. There are water stations along the way but there is not a lot of shade - it's definitely a good idea to wear a hat. .

This forms arguably Sydney's finest suburban coastal walk and, for me, sits shoulders above the popular and heavy trampled Bondi to Coogee walk. The area here is more wild, more natural, less developed and covers a wide range of topography and gorgeous views from all angles. The council have really created a wonderful path with the boardwalk in parts and a well maintained environment.
Continue on past North Curl Curl through to Dee Why on the other side. The vegetation here is thick and gorgeous and particularly beautiful in late spring or early to mid autumn. And the views....well, there are sweeping vistas at each turn.
Pick a mild or cool sunny early morning or late afternoon and Freshwater to Dee Why is Sydney's coast at its finest.

Making up part of the longer Collaroy to Manly coastal walk, this section - most notably along the Curl Curl Boardwalk - is particularly stunning. Highly recommended.

The Curl Curl to Freshwater beach coastal walk is stunning. It’s one of my favourite places in Sydney as the elevated timber boardwalk hugs the rocks with breathtaking views of the ocean keeping you within arms length of the water.
The walk starts at Freshwater Beach up to McKillop lookout and along the boardwalk to South Curl Curl lifesavers Club where coffee is served at Gusto on the beach cafe. The walk then meanders along the dog friendly reserves to North Curl Curl Beach. The walk is basically suited to everyone including dogs.
This walk is apart of the new Northern Beaches Coast Walk from Manly to Palm Beach.

Best way to spend your time on a sunny day at he Northern Beaches. The walking path is mostly uncrowded and there is no litter. Best thing of course is the view of the clean water washing over the rocks.

The best thing about this walk is that the boardwalk is built along the cliff edge and hugs the beach and coastline so that you have the most fabulous ocean views. It really is one of those walks that makes you stop often just to appreciate how beautiful it all is.
As well as expansive ocean views, there are striking rock formations, rock-pools, sea birds and native coastal plants.
It’s also an easy walk and the boardwalk itself is in excellent condition, making it suitable for small children or anyone who might normally find walking difficult. Park at the south Curl Curl end (above the swimming pool) and you can join the boardwalk without any stairs or climbing.
If you start at the south Curl Curl end, the walk finishes at the headland by the new Harbord Diggers which has is a good lookout point over Freshwater and towards Manly. If you want to, you can continue onto Freshwater Beach but at this point there are some steps up from the boardwalk and more stairs down to Freshwater.
Once back at Curl Curl, the beach café, Gusto, is a perfect spot for a rest. They do some great juices it and its right on the beach so you can relax and enjoy looking out over the waves of Curl Curl.

This part of the coastal walk in the northern beaches is beautiful, no matter the weather.
Parking all the way along for you to start wherever is most convenient and a dog park at one end for your four-legged friend.
Up for a little bit extra? Continue north around the headland to Dee Why or south along the beach and over the hill to Manly.

Those, who never experienced the Curl Curl to Freshwater boardwalk, don’t know what did they lose. For me, it was an extraordinary encounter. That walk was a heartbreakingly beautiful affair. Enjoying the fresh breeze of the ocean, adoring the stones, carved to strange shapes by the water, and first of all the mighty ocean. As the crested waves are attacking the rocks, as they break on them, swirl around them, or jump on them, so that they can fall back into the ocean as mini waterfalls, it is all an immeasurable experience. It is also unrepeatable because the white of the foams, blend with the blue of the sea, and the sunlight dancing on the rocks also contributes to the ever-changing color palette. To observe as the ocean breathes like a colossal creature, swells and after crashes into thousands of tiny waves it is like a drama, where the performance lasts 24 hours a day.
Every day, all day long, I would love to look at it, but this would require a window that opens to the ocean. Until then, the Curl Curl to Freshwater boardwalk should do it. (go as often as possible.) Physically it is an easy walk, and the length of it is your choice. Officially it begins at the South Curl Curl Life Saving Surf Club and ends at the Freshwater Life Saving Club. You can start and finish it sooner and later. Stairs are leading up to the road, from time to time. I followed the line of South Curl Curl Beach and then on the left side of the Club building climbed up on the stairs. For those who find it difficult, there is a ramp behind the building.
After the boardwalk turns up to the road, don’t go straight to Freshwater beach. Just a short break away is the Freshwater lookout, from where you can see Long Reef in one direction and Manly in the other direction. Now, it is only a short jump to the end of the trip, the Freshwater Beach, but I suggest that, if you are here, visit the Duke Paoa Kahanamoku statue, that is less than 100m away in the McKillop Park.
